Getting Started
How do I get my first ketucari?
Players who are completely new to the game may acquire their first ketucari for free over at The Orphanage. The easiest and most consistent way to get a ketucari is to purchase it via our current member's advertisements. You can also buy slots to two different ketucari and try breeding your own litter! Advertisements can be found here: ketucari.deviantart.com/galler…
Every few months the group may have some sort of event that may include a free ketucari import or geno for the winner as well. These will typically be featured on the front page, and we welcome new players to try them out!
What's the difference between a genotype and an uploaded ketucari?
Genotypes (or "genos" for short) are ketucari who have not yet been designed or accepted into the group. They can be obtained as semi-customs, through breeding, events, and numerous other ways. They are "clean slates", meaning they have no designs, artwork, skills, or even a name! Genotypes are presented in this form:
1 – Female
Healthy
Genotype: EE/SS/KK/nRy/nSb/nFd/nPn/Ww
Phenotype: Charcoal with Ray, Sable, Fading and Pangare
Feather Type: Smooth
This includes the sex, health status, feather type, and physical appearance of the ketucari. The genotype field denotes the ketucari's genes, such as their color or whether or not the genes are dominant or recessive. The phenotype field tells you what the ketucari should actually look like, since some genes are hidden from the ketucari's outward appearance.
Uploaded ketucari have already been designed and accepted into the group. They are ready to use in the game as they have already gone through the approval process and often have names, personalities, and sometimes art.
I have a genotype, where do I go from here?
Once you receive a ketucari genotype you can move on to designing! You can design the geno yourself or you can commission another artist to do it! Just make sure to keep within our design code and the genes expressed in your genotype.
To begin designing, download the base corresponding to your genotype. The feather type will be expressed at the bottom of the geno. The links to all bases and other resources can be found here: ketucari.deviantart.com/galler…
You can also find guides to designing all genes available here: Design Guides
Once you've finished designing, save your design to your St.ash (not your gallery) and fill out the form found here: Submitting Your Ketucari. This form will be put in the description of the stash file. Please delete all italics and none of the main form. Doing so can be terms for a re-submission of your design.
After you have filled out the form to the best of your abilities, go to this journal: Design Approval and fill out the form found under the 'Submit a Design' link, and comment with it. From there, all you have to do is wait for a design mod to go through and approve your design.
What if my design doesn't get approved?
That's okay, everyone gets a 'resubmit' every once in awhile. Typically the design mod will comment on your stash file with an explanation on what needs to be fixed. Just follow their directions and you should be in the clear! Don't be afraid to ask the design admin for additional clarification and examples if needed. We're here to help!
I need to update some information on my ketucari (name, biography, ownership transfer, etc.). Where can I do that?
Follow the link for Information Updates on the front page (or here: Information Updates), there will be links in the journal for Transfers, Info changes, and Elder Advancement. Simply follow the links and fill out the forms and comment with them. The mods will be through to do any edits and will inform you when they are done!
What do I do now that my ketucari is uploaded/has been transferred to me?
It sounds like you're ready to start playing the game! You can visit this guide for a rundown of what you should do first with your ketucari: Starting the Game, A Beginner's First Week
This guide covers adventures, quests, and battles, but there is even more fun to be had, as you can find out below!
How do I make my ketucari breeding eligible?
To get your ketucari ready to breed, all you have to do is complete one skill quest , finish one adventure, and take on one creature from the world in a battle. Then, submit a form to our Breeding Eligibility journal, which can be found on the group's front page!
How do I breed ketucari?
First, find two breeding eligible ketucari. Typically one male, one female, (though we do have items for same-sex breeding). Then go over to the Breeding Requests journal on our front page and follow the 'Request a breeding' link. Simply fill out the form with your ketucari and any permission links you require and submit it. Our breeding mods will be around shortly to tell you what little bundles of joy your ketucari have created!
What is crafting and how do I do it?
Crafting is how many items in Ketucari are created. There are three kinds of crafting, Armorsmithing, Alchemy, and Archaeology. Each creates its own list of items and each has a stat that will bring back items for crafting from adventuring. Willpower brings back items for armorsmithing, perception brings back herbs for alchemy, and intellect brings back artifact parts for archeology. Simply make sure you have all your necessary items and any gold required for your creation, fill out the forms for what you want crafted, and wait for our mods to craft you the item!
Where can I find a list of extra goodies for my ketucari?
You, my friend, are looking for the Marketplace. Here you can find items to apply to your ketucari, including breeding potions for larger litters, health potions to heal your ketucari, and items to edit their imports with scars and trinkets. Simply take note of what you want to buy, their prices and head on over to the Hoard link on our front page and click "Purchase an Item"!
What's Elder rank? Why do I want to get my ketucari there?
Elder rank marks the time in a ketucari's life when they have mastered their skills. They have learned all they can from the basic skills and magics and are ready to move on to bigger and better things! When your ketucari gains elder status they will gain extra breeding slots, any litters they have will have no matriarch killed cubs and they will be allowed to master Elder skills!
What is Bonding? Why would I want to bond my Ketucari?
Bonding is how you show progress of working with your ketucari. All you have to do is use your ketucari in the group and you will gain stats and even armor to help you navigate the world! Even commissioned art or literature featuring your ketucari will count towards your bonding level. But be careful, if you sell or trade your ketucari they will revert to 0 bonding levels and lose all armor and stats gained in this way!
Are there packs that I can join? Do they give me any benefits?
Yes, there are and yes, they do! Packs are member run groups that your ketucari can join and help build! An Elder ketucari may even create their own pack! You can find most all info you need on packs here: Packs, and a list of player packs here: Player Packs
Is there world lore to this group?
Yes, there is a very deep world lore to the world of Velukaelo within the group of Ketucari. You can read up on it here: World Lore and about the Pantheon of the world here: Pantheon
