Afterglow by kessir Afterglow by kessir
This started out as a Speedpainting but somehow drew me in so much that i had to work it out :( And i actually just wanted to test how my style would work reversed, since i usualy start with the darkest color and then add light to it like stones to a pyramid. In this piece i somehow did it both ways.
I noticed it's somehow really fun to add so many details with this style. I added so many pointless houses to the citys that you cant even see in this solution (even though its about 60% of the original size).

Afterglow is what happens AFTER a day of a long journey :D I really love how it turned out.

All done in one Layer. Characters are the same as in this piece from years ago: [link]

That's a really impressive landscape!
There are so many details but it's not too much.
I love the light and how everything seems to be sinking into the last rays of dusk.
It would be cool to see the original size of it XD

Haha thanks for the compliments <3
Sadly, this piece is only 60% of the original size, the original one is only like 200px longer, but thats about all :<... So it's not really worth it hehe :D

I love everything about this except for the blue bit in the rightmost city. It's too jarring fro me. Otherwise it's a great atmosphere with great tones.

Completeing this pic actually didnt take much longer than 8-10 hours, so it was actually not much compared to the usual time it takes me :<

Well I guess compared to your other works it feels a bit... "Softer". But you really are amazing at doing these backgrounds! I wish I had such patience xDD I usually focus on the character and leave the background on second plan, sometimes I don't even bother with it :'D

Yes, actually thats my kind of buisness too (leaving out the bg), however it seems like my digital drawing style is so inspiring, whenever i use it to only HINT a bg, my mind goes crazy on the different hue/shade/color nuances and goes like WHOA WTF I COULD ADD THIS BECAUSE THAT SPOT THERE COULD JUST LOOK LIKE IT and somehow I end up in a trance until the BG is done. Its weird sometimes :(...

What is that blue glow in front of the gate?

Its supposed to be a bright blue ray of light in the middle of the city, however it came out quite confusing as it should be blending over with the light of the sun, but i couldnt figure out how a intense light source would react to an even intenser lightsource so i just kept it blue :P
And no, actually this somehow went in a fast flow, although i cant remember how long it took in total, i still remember that it didnt take as long as most of my other art (right now im siting on an image that just doesnt seem like its getting to an end for example). I think it didnt take longer than 8 hours actually.

Awwwwwwwwwwwww. I'm jealous :3 I always wanted to draw a sunset like this, and everything :X
Anyways,....
It looks very good :D And sometime I'm gonna be able to do stuff like this... XD
Theres only one thing that kinda seems "out of place". The blue line (that I'm thinking is a water from fountain or something...) it seems out of specially since its bright blue not being affected by the Sun's light. That's all I get to say I guess XDD
Keep it up! :D

Its actually a light ray from the town that is bright blue, i wasn't sure how a blue light of ray would be affected by such a intense sunset light.
But anyway, thank you very much for leaving me such a kind comment :D

Ah... that explains it ;) Yeah I got no idea how another ray of light would influenced by a "greater" one... hmm I should try and search for that...
My pleasure :D
