Description
Since last deviant was about characters I used to love but now hate, here's a more positive sibling of it, with characters I hated at first but now like/love.
#10.) Ortensia (Disney/Epic Mickey): I used to hate her due to a misunderstanding (the Universal version of her, Sadie, really rubbed me off the wrong way).
But since Disney brought her & her husband, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, back to their side; I have a change of heart about her now that she'll be portrayed back to her nice girl self again.
#09.) Shadow the Hedgehog (Sonic media): I didn't like Shadow at first because I thought he was a mopey villain who is obsessed with a dead girl (I was a kid & didn't have any taste in villains/anti-heroes yet).
But when I got older (and a friend of my cousin finished the game faster than I could) and saw that scene where Shadow sacrificed himself to save the world, it changed my mind about him.
Of course he now has a crazy fanbase because of that, but Shadow is still one of my top favorite characters because of his development.
#08.) Impmon (Digimon Tamers): 'Nuff said.
#07.) Miss Piggy (Muppets): To me, Miss Piggy was my least favorite character because of the way she abuses Kermit, even though she loves him.
However, I've come to realize that Miss Piggy is a lot more relatable once I've gotten older. It's not easy working around a bunch of crazy people, and it's sometimes hard to bottle up one's insecurities & jealous behavior when one worked so hard to make one pacific person to love you back; only to be thrown to the side when that person is with someone else.
Plus, it's funny when Piggy gets all pissed off , and she does show a sympathetic side of herself at times.
#06.) Kurumi (Sanrio)
#05.) Gary Oak (Pokemon): Pretty much a lot of people hated him because he was an arrogant jerk in the beginning of both the anime & the games, and then they started to like him now that he became a researcher & began to respect Ash's skills (and he's now a meme character).
*Fun Fact* Ash & Gary's rivalry is based off of the actual rivalry between Satoshi Tajiri (the creator of Pokemon) and Shigeru Miyamoto. Hell, their (Ash & Gary's) Japanese names are 'Satoshi' & 'Shigeru'.
#04.)The 90's anime version of Rei Hino/Sailor Mars (Sailor Moon): Many people didn't like Rei because of the way she treats Usagi/Serena/Sailor Moon, which is understandable because she was one of my least favorite Scouts/Senshi when I was little.
Looking back at the old anime now, Rei's behavior is like that for a reason.
When your leader/future ruler is practically a crybaby & in their own little world a lot, someone has to be her strict wake up call to reality and give them some more backbone, that's when Rei comes in to help Usagi/Serena be more aware of the world around her.
And because of that, I like all three versions of Rei (the manga, the 90's anime, and the Crystal anime).
#03.) Transformers: I first didn't like them because I thought it was just another dude's cartoon, where everything is just made for guys only (that's basically what Michael Bay was thinking when he was making those movies). But after giving up on going against the show (my cousin Terry & my brother always watched the show when it was "Transformers Armada" ), I started to like it because of the characters & stories.
#02.) Tinkerbell (Disney's Peter Pan)
#01.) Shopkins: Same thing with Transformers, if you can't beat them join them. I now I love these little cuties!
Blank version:
Characters belong respectively to their creators.
