OW Tournament: Schrecken vs. Boomer
There was only one round remaining. Schrecken only had one more opponent in the tournament. And, much to his joy, it was someone else he had never encountered before. According to the new tournament announcement, the student that he would be fighting was named Boomer. Schrecken had never heard of a student by the name of Boomer, but he immediately assumed that Boomer would have some kind of explosive magic. Why else would someone have a name like that? Why would someone be called Boomer unless they had the ability to make things go boom? It made perfect sense to Schrecken, anyway. As such, he started coming up with a plan – of his usual nonsensical, barely-even-a-plan type. It was more fun this way, after all. And besides, he would find out sooner or later if this student named Boomer really did make things go boom.
Schrecken supposed that if he was going to tell his ‘plan’ to anyone, it might as well be the tree that he was still growing from his Magical Linguistics

Tomoe: LOOK alright I get you are all into voting Samhain for some reason, but it doesn't make sense! THE NOTES WERE BASED ON A MUSICAL! AND ADDY WAS IN THE MUSIC CLUB.- Her brain was getting angry at this right now- Sure vote the man who is basically just trying to protect his lover, or vote someone who has more evidence against them. Instead of voting with you emotions vote with your brain.- She looked at Wisteria with a sad look.-
Stolas: What fucking evidence do you have? Oh, some song lyrics? -his voice came out before he even had a chance to think.- Fuck. You. Have you thought about the fact that literally every person on earth enjoys music in some capacity? Or, fuck, maybe it's not even a fucking song! What if it's a poem? How are you so certain that it's a song?? Is it possible that maybe you know the rest of it??
Tomoe: -she glared at Addanc when he spoke to her- YES I ACTUALLY DO KNOW, WERE IN THE MUSIC CLUB TOGETHER REMEMBER?! AND GUESS WHAT NOT EVERYONE KNOWS ABOUT IT!!- He

Boomer: He gave a weakened smile, the bags under his eyes made it clear the last few days were restless ones that kept him on edge. "G- good.. I think.. I'm glad to have found these two knuckleheads though." He answered. "I'm Boomer.. you?" He asked but perked up with wide eyes seeing Kimo gripping Alix by his shirt. Fuck.. he was friends with both of them..was Kimo really sure on what he was saying?? "You two break it up, come on!" He huffed butting in.
Anela: How about you tell them that genius. I did that yesterday. -She flipped her hair a little, trying to retain some form of confidence.- Oh my god, you're a fucking idiot. Stop fighting and stop... being stupid. -Runs over to them again and grabs Kimo's hand- If anything you look guilty, throwing accusations around. Now shut up and actually work with people. -She looked back at Stolas- Wait what, what dors the note say? -Oh shit- -She felt a small pit settle in her stomach. Would people think it was her because she was an angel?-

Zoragarri: -Arriving on the scene, Zoragarri rushes over to the bodies and clenches her eyes shut, sniffing at the air whilst trying to hold back tears. She then turns her head to the crowd and opens her eyes.- "I... I cannot smell who did it. J... just blood. I... I think I'm going to be sick..."
Annie: -she had missed yesterday's events, but had a feeling things weren't over after Stolas recounted everything for her. The screams made her stomach drop, but she went along with Stolas this time, refusing to let herself back down again. The sight of the bodies, not just one, but two, made bile rise in her throat, dangerously close to being free. She hadn't seen any gore yet, and it was already too much. There was a bucket of blood, for fuck's sake.-
Beryllium- It was faint at first, the terrified screams getting louder and louder as Beryllium ran to the Linguistics Building area. Stopping at a large tree, she gasped at the gruesome scene laid out before her. Not one, but two bodies were

Her eyes were wide, flashes of her own wings being ruined flashing in her mind.- -It seemed as if she was the first one there. But only because she had been nearby getting food when the smell had hit her. It didn't take long for her to find the source.- -She was simply standing there, frozen with a bag of food in her free hand.-
Artery- -The smell hit him like a brick wall, a sudden assault on his senses that burned his nose and seemed to stick to his tongue and the back of his throat. He pulled his cloak over his face, leaving only the four black eyes to look out as he started following the solemn procession heading toward the Nightshade Cafeteria. Each time he breathed into the cold air it had a flickering glow to it.- Asa, help me... Please... Please....
Artery- -he debated it for a couple of moments, his ears folding back to block out the sound of all the screaming and yelling. Why did everyone have to act like animals? Couldn't they THINK instead of just screaming and acting like their lizard brains were all they could make function?- Ugh... -he massaged his temples- The killer is trying to sew chaos, right? Cray's piercing cry ripped through the air as he found the familiar figure hanging by the end of a rope. He had left her alone for 10 minutes to get a temporary translation spell so that he wouldn't have to rely on broken English throughout this whole ordeal. 10 minutes was all it took for him to lose track of her between classes. He savagely ripped through the rope suspending her, looking more beast than anything in his desperation to get the siren down. The rope finally gave way and Cray sagged under the added weight, his wings furiously pumping to keep them both from plummeting to the ground. He set her down gently, his hands shaking as he fought to undo the rope around her neck. "Aqua! Aqua wake up, please." He tried anything he could think of to revive her before slumping over her body, another gut-wrenching screech ripping itself from his throat.

It had been decided. And right now the demon who'd so willingly stepped up to murder the lynching victim was behaving like a fucking sociopath- ... Seeing the body was one thing, being accused of killing was another.- Y-yeah... I'd like t-t-that.

Artery- -The sudden sound of a screeching wail made him yelp and clasp his hands to his ears. A blaring noise, almost like a tornado alarm, ripped through the silence of the campus, with its origin at the clock tower. The dreamcatcher gripped his broom to steady himself, then spotted a small group of students collecting by the library fountain. Curious, he descended to the spot, to see the ruined rubble laying in the grass. Petrina... or what remained of her...-
Cray - The alarm startled Cray so badly that he nearly dropped out of the sky. He looked around, his ear tufts pressed flat against his head to try and keep out some of the alarm's shrill cries. A group of students caught his eye and he slowly circled down to see what the commotion was. Rubble laid below a statue, and the Angel was confused. "What are we staring at, guys?"

Every time he headed outside it felt like he became a magnet for every molecule of moisture lingering in the air, and it felt lately that whenever he arrived at his destination, wherever that may be, he was drenched by the time he stepped foot in drier buildings. He'd taken to bringing a black towel with him to wipe the majority of the moisture off his body, and kept it otherwise slung over his shoulder. The moisture had reached critical levels, enticing him into the castle lounge so he could lay the towel in front of the fire to dry. OW Tournament: Schrecken vs. Beth
Schrecken had come quite a long way in the tournament. His placement in the rankings was certainly unpredictable. He had lost to Apple, a lazy little forest spirit whom he had previously defeated in the last tournament, but then in the next round, he had defeated Shaya, one of the most powerful students at the entire school. He had defeated Shaya in the previous tournament, as well, but she had certainly gotten a lot stronger since the last time they had fought. But now, Schrecken was facing a new opponent – someone whom he had never encountered in the last tournament. Her name was Beth, and apart from that, Schrecken had virtually no idea who she was. Apparently, according to the rumors and conversations that always swept across the campus around the time of the tournament, she was a witch, and she was also supposedly a lot weaker than Schrecken was, but that was all he knew. He did not even know her last name. Schrecken hoped that she would be a fun opponent to fight, regardles

Drake- -the new professor sat on the edge of the fountain, tossing a softball sized ball up and down. He had invented a brand new sport and he was excited to tell people about it- Okay, Luca, so the way it works is this. You're in teams of two, with four players on the field. You're trying to get the ball in a hole in the center of the field. The ball will infuse itself with an element every sixty seconds, which means you have to choose your players carefully. It might light itself on fire, for instance, so you'd need either a firemancer around, or perhaps a watermancer to douse it. Sounds fun, doesn't it???
Luca- -He squinted as he tried to see in his mind exactly what Drake was suggesting here. It sounded like some form of basketball, but with no bouncing or aiming and also the ball could be on fire...- It sounds dangerous... -He scratched his neck, holding his hands out for the ball- Plus, can't only elementalism students play? Or at least those with elementalism powers...

OW Tournament: Schrecken vs. Shaya Redux, Epilogue
The battle was over. He had done it. Schrecken had won. He may have ended up losing to Apple in the first round, despite having beaten her previously in the tournament before this one, but he was still able to defeat Shaya. Sure, it had taken a very long time, and he had gotten beaten up quite a lot in the process, but he had still managed to secure victory in the end – in a very unexpected way. When Schrecken was completing his Magical Linguistics assignments as a vague substitute for training (and also so he could try to impress his professor to make up for vomiting out the window of the Magical Linguistics tower), he had learned about a spell that put people into a temporary death-like state if they attempted to use it. And, in the tournament, he had made Shaya spell it out with her footprints. He was quite proud of himself.
The thing that made him the proudest was that he had managed to think of it in the first place. Sure, he had the help of a super-empowered Laguz rune spel

For once, Cressida entered the classroom after most of her students did. She seemed more rushed than usual, more hurried, even more out-of-sorts, though once she reached the front of the classroom and took her place in front of her class, she seemed to become significantly calmer. "Hello, everyone," she stated, though as usual, she did not smile. "Before we begin, I'd like to inform you that after this term, I'll be restructuring the Beast Studies course list. There will be less emphasis on handling animals, particularly at the Advanced level, and more emphasis on the abilities of various magical creatures and how you can use them yourself. After all, this is an academy of dark magic, not a pet shop."

"But don't worry," the witch continued, as vines closed the doors of the classroom, "for those of you who might be affected by the changes to the course list, there will most likely be temporary alternate prerequisites based on what is currently offered in this department. Of course, none of that matters now. This term, at least, your classes are the same as always. Simply do well and don't disappoint me, and you will excel. Creativity, academic curiosity, and dedication are encouraged." The witch nodded solemnly. "If you're simply lazy and don't wish to do your work..." Cressida paused, tapping her chin thoughtfully. "Let's just say that the menagerie accumulates a lot of dung, and outside your dormitory room may be a lovely place to dispose of it. Perhaps I'll even write your name on the bag."

“The intersection of the magical world with the mundane world is really quite interesting,” Cressida began, “and nowhere is that intersection clearer than with sightings of cryptids. A cryptid is some sort of animal, or occasionally other form of life, that is generally hidden from the rest of the non-magical world, while still being present within it. Of course, you can often find cryptids in magical regions, as well, and perhaps some of you actually are cryptids.” That would certainly be interesting, Cressida decided. “There are all sorts of cryptids of all different types,” the witch explained. “One of my particular favorites is the Mongolian Death Worm. Look it up!”
The witch smiled at her students. This was an introductory class, after all, and so hopefully it wouldn’t be too difficult for people to pass.
“So, what you’re going to do for this assignment,” she continued, “

The creatures in the image seemed to move with a life of their own.
“Before you go about trying to produce new creatures – which, as this is a dark arts academy, I completely expect you to do once you start getting into the upper-level classes and possibly also taking some Medical Studies classes -- you’re going to need to do some research on existing ones. “In this department,” Cressida stated, sitting on her vine-covered desk, her expression quite serious and grim all of a sudden, “you will be working with a lot of very dangerous creatures. From sirens to dragons, from manticores to hellhounds – all right, Professor Baines was probably not very dangerous for a hellhound, but he’s not here anymore so that’s beside the point – you will find that this is not a very safe department. None of them are.”
Cressida clapped her hands together and stood up quite suddenly. “So! Because I’m a competent professor, I’m going to make sure that you’re all decently prepared to handle these creatures. Unless, of course, you simply choose to not pay attention.”
“So, obviously, what I’m going to have you do first is design some form of protective equipment. You’re going to

The witch unrolled an anatomical diagram of the human body, one of the kind that showcases the muscles and internal organs of a person. “Now, many creatures are associated with certain parts of the body. Either they come from those organs, or they consume them, or they have powers associated with them, or they simply happen to have them in some form that’s different from what a normal human’s got. As a Potionmaker, these sorts of things are very interesting to me.”

“Now, in this particular class,” the witch stated, “we will be studying creatures that utilize the basic forms of elemental magic, that is, earth, air, water and fire, and then we will move on to more complicated elemental forms and eventually the unearthly element known as aether.”
Almost like a dramatic theater curtain, many of the vines hanging down behind Cressida were drawn away to the sides of the room, revealing a clearly impatient griffin and a small golem with glowing green eyes. “For example, a griffin such as Heracles here is a beast of the air, whereas a golem is an artificial creature of the earth. And yes, I created the golem myself. I have a rather… reactive form of magic.” The griffin stayed in place, but the golem tried to wander off and had to be stopped by Cressida’s plants. “You can find water creatures in even the most remotely magical body of water, suc

You’ll be learning about the various sorts of habitats where mythological creatures can live, and which sorts of creatures can live in different places.”
“So, to begin, let’s take a look at some relatively ordinary temperate-zone sort of places. We have both mountains and a forest just outside the campus, so that’s where you’ll be starting.
