A Message from MacLarry by Kenny-boy A Message from MacLarry by Kenny-boy
First I kinda drew this for :iconveggiefangirl: back for her b-day we actually were talking and I thought might as well.
So this is also my Quick Review of “MacLarry and The stinky Cheese War”.

This was actually pretty fun. But it definitely felt a little like a cheap version of DreamWorks’ “How to Train Your Dragon” atleast in the father son relationship. Which I don’t know; this might just be because Dreamworks owns the veggies that I draw these Parallels.
So I’m gonna avoid Spoilers in case you haven’t seen this. But the basic synopsis is about a continued feud between veggies from Rome and Scotland which is fought out in true veggie fashion with pranks. The Great Chog Norrious (a play on Chuck Norris), leads the scotts against the Roman. (Bonus points if you can tell me Mr. Lunt’s name in this ep.) Chog’s s son MacLarry the inventor however is no good at this pranking business and is seen as a screw up amongst the Barberbarians (whose specialty is giving bad haircuts).
After a montage of MacLarry’s failures he is ditched as the Barberbarians go on a quest to find the cheese of Attila. A weapon so deadly it could win the war for the Barberbarians. MacLarry leaves the town believing he can find a better life with his hero Archimedes. (Who sadly is barely in the episode.)
Basically from this point on Larry needs to learn how his God given inventing skills can be used to change the town for the better. The Story is good, you’ won’t be terribly surprised. I couldn’t help but notice this is one of the few eps where Mike Nawrocki does more voices than Phil Vicher. The silly Song was fun. (link) but besides that the other songs felt a bit forced and out of place specifically the one sung by MacLarry’s dad.
All in all not too heavy on the Bible and or God. Well not in a meaningful way it’s kinda just mentioned in passing with no lasting impression. But the episode was fun and worth maybe a good……6.5 out of 10 in my opinion.

Wow, this was educational. Did not know about this episode and did not know they were owned by Dreamworks. I'm glad you focused on God. This quote, did you make it up for the scene or is it actually in the episode?

Aww, this is awesome!!! ^-^ I haven't seen MacLarry yet, but it sounds like it might've been a little disappointing. But I'll still see it, for sure!! :D And the fact that they made a Chuck Norris reference... that's just hilarious. XD It'd be nice if Veggietales went for another blatantly musical episode sometime soon (without making it unexpected and spontaneous and forced, like I'm assuming this episode did). Maybe they could go back to the kind of musical presence they had in Lyle the Friendly Viking and King George and the Ducky. Then again, the songs in "Little Joe" were spontaneous, but they were in-context and were never awkward. All the musical performances in there, if I remember right, were done by a crowd in order to convey the general mentality of the situation. Maybe that's what's necessary for a musical number that's not in a musical to feel natural. All the emotional parts of "Little Joe" were done by speaking, not by singing, which strangely made it even more meaningful. Speaking of music, we seem to hear all the time about Mike's and Phil's leadership and the essential roles they play in veggie production, but at the same time, Kurt Heinecke has done their musical scores since the beginning, and the songs in Veggietales is partly what makes it so priceless. Shouldn't he be given significantly more publicity than he gets? Hold on - on Wikipedia, it says he's gotten 6 dove awards, which is pretty awesome, but it also says that he doesn't do a whole lot outside of Veggietales, which is interesting. Anyway. There's my rant. ^-^

Sweet. ^^ Thanks. :D

Plus you're review is nice too. Did you know that the first Veggie show that had little to no mention of God (excluding the countertop scenes) was LarryBoy and the Fib from Outer Space? Course. I could be wrong. I hope that God is mentioned more in the next one. And since that it's another Christmas show, there's a good chance He will be.

Anyway, thanks again for the picture.

Great review Kenny.

Sadly, i'd have agree with you on this episode. It was kinda....meh. Was it terrible? No. Was it good? Well, to me it was kinda mediocre. I certainly wouldn't put it up there with Lyle or Easter carol. It's one of those episodes that seem forgettable. In a couple years we'd all probably forget this one exists. To me, last year's shows were really good. better than this year it seems. well, so far. Merry Larry better not disappoint. Another problem i have with this episode is that the mentioned Archimedes multiple times throughout the episode. They could have done so much with Maclarry and Archimedes...Archimedes could have been his mentor! and yet, Archimedes shows up at the very end  and is on screen for less than 5 seconds! I feel like i've been gyped! The silly song was cute. it was awesome to hear Larry doing different accents. Mike Nawrocki's got SKILLZ!  Anyway, That was my little nitpick...I still love VeggieTales ALOT. But Pleeeeeaaaaaase Big idea, come out with better material! Also i feel like they're dumbing down the audience for the newer episodes. noticed how League of Incredible Vegetables was sort of bright and more kid-friendly. the villain was not even scary compared to the rumour weed or the fib. I feel as if Veggietales can't appeal to me anymore as far as the writing and the visuals go. BUT, i still love the show despite it's flaws.
