~Dawn Game Character~

My first iClone animation! I have created a 13,000 polys version of Dawn (face and hands are not rigged) to animate in real-time on iClnne. It animates so fast that I could put a 2nd Dawn's on the scene, and it still rendered in real-time. I took it a step further, and made her hair dynamic using NVidia's PhysX engine, and it STILL rendered in real-time with PBR, HDR IBL and GI. I made this music to go with the animation, and this is the reault. ^____^

Figure is Dawn, reduced to only 13K polys, animated and rendered in iClone. Hope you like it and thanks for coming by!

Thank you! Yes, it loops forever, but no polys were harmed in the making! :D

I wish I could see this (my iPad doesn’t do Flash) - the thumbnail is so delightfully goofy and beautiful...

Hehe thanks! It's not that the iPad is incapable of playing Flash, but instead that it was forbidden by Apple, who doesn't want freely available interactive web contents to compete with their Apple Store apps. I guess it's business as usual. :)

Not to start a flame war, but here’s an alternative explanation: Apple didn’t want to allow an obsolete technology with an appalling history of security vulnerabilities, when there are safer alternatives available :)

I know Steve Jobs said those things, and because he was Steve Jobs, people will take it for granted. However, no one could ever present a single example of Flash security vulnerability. They made it up. Just like Java, Flash runs in a secured sandbox using a virtual machine, so it is as secure as Java will ever be. If it weren't secure, it wouldn't had become an industry web standard for decades.

The idea that Flash was obsolete is also quite flaky. Flash was the very first platform to run hardware accelerated 3D web contents on a web browser, at a time when nothing else could do it. It also has the only existing true multi-platform programming language that doesn't need special code to handle each platform, like even Java and C# still need nowadays. You write it once, and the same code runs anywhere. It just works. To this date, I have seen nothing else that can do that. What Apple actually said was that Flash was old. Should we all stop using Photoshop? It's way older than Flash.

I am also waiting for the "safer alternatives". Where are they? Google has already announced they gave up on HTML5 after the first year of trying and loosing a lot of money. They also made it clear that it cannot replace Flash because of the low performance issues. And finally, HTML5 + JavaScript are for programmers, while Flash is still the only artist-friendly tool that can run everywhere.

They will remove the only existing artist-friendly tool we have and leave us with nothing. If not even Google could make HTML5 work on their web services, but still want us to believe it's all good, what does that tell you? They are lying to us. After 2020, all my Flash contents will stop working, and I have nothing to replace them with. That will represent the end of artistic freedom on the web. From that on, if you want web games, you can only get them from Apple, Google or Microsoft app stores. Sounds great - for them.

Thanks, and good eye! I have indeed mentioned in the main text that the hands and face were not rigged in this model, so they could not be animated. :)

Thanks! It was fun to play with a low poly Dawn in a game engine. ^^
