“This is ridiculous!” Soleil grumbled a little as she used her mop to scrub the ground. The floor was sticky with some green goop that she had no idea what it was. All she knows was that it smelled like tapioca for whatever odd reason. Whatever it was, it was sticky and hard to clean off the floor.
She saw a Murkrow not a while ago get his wings stuck on the goop not a short while ago. Took a moment for his partner to get him out of the sticky mess. Even then she’s sure they plucked a feather or two. It made her extremely cautious around the whole mess. The last thing she needed were her wings to be plucked.
“I’m don’t usually look for easy solutions but… don’t they have some sort of spell or technique to make the mops clean this on their own?” Soleil asked with a grunt. This mess was starting to grow hard on her wings. She’d consider it training if it weren’t so tedious.
“Not everyone has magic or can use a technique like that. Properly at least. Unless you want to flood the lab instead.” Flora sighed as she helped clean the book covers. She didn’t know what kind of experiment they were running here but it was obvious it went horribly wrong.
“I think a flooded building would be easier to clean than this mess.” Soleil grunted as she continued to scrub the floor. It was clear that she disliked this a lot. This was the second time she had to help clean up for a guild.
Soleil didn’t have any particular interest in the Scholars. She didn’t have anything against them personally. She thought what they did was great overall. It’s just not a group she felt she fit in so to speak. Really, the only reason she was here was to help support Flora.
Flora figured the best way to learn about healing practices was to study with the Scholars as well as the Keepers. Of course knowing how shy Flora was she felt she needed to be there for her. If only to get her through the front doors in the first place.
So she figured she’d walk around and wait while she did her thing. What she wasn’t expecting was for Flora to volunteer the two to helping clean up around the place. She was annoyed at the prospect of cleaning for the guild once again but she figured it couldn’t be too hard. Just stack papers, put books in their place and wash test tubes.
Oh how wrong she was.
“Seriously, there’s got to be a better way of doing this.” Soleil said as she scrubbed harder. She suddenly yelped as she let go of her mop.
“A-are you okay?” Flora asked as she stopped what she was doing.
“Yeah, just got a splinter was all.” Soleil said with a huff.
“Here, let me see,” Flora said as she used a vine to grab her wing to inspect it. Sure enough she was cut with a splinter. “Oh dear. Let me fix that up.” She said as she began to concentrate.
“Seriously Flora, I’m fine. You don’t have heal me you know,” Soleil sighed a little. It was a barely a scratch.
“Still, you can get an infection,” Flora shushed her. She removed the splinter before she concentrated as she began to use her Heal Pulse on her wing. The cut began to heal until there was no trace of there being one in the first place. “There, good as new!” She smiled at her.
“Thanks, I guess.” Soleil shrugged a little. She still didn’t think it was a big deal. Might be annoying to hold stuff with that wing but she could manage. “You worry about me too much sometimes.”
“Only because you give me reasons to be,” Flora chuckled a little and smiled.
“That was rather fascinating…”
Flora yelped a little as she heard a voice behind her.
“Oh, pardon me. I didn’t mean to startle you.” A Lanturn said an apologetic smile. “If I’m not mistaken, that was Heal Pulse correct?”
“O-oh um… yes Miss Chandra, it was.” Flora said bashfully as she looked down a little.
Chandra offered a gentle smile to the shy recruit. She had plenty of experience to understand she was probably nervous to speak to a guild leader. “Fascinating. Vary rarely do I come across an individual that possesses such a move. Even Pokémon that can learn it typically don’t have it with them. I was wondering if you wouldn’t mind sharing some details about your Heal Pulse?”
“U-um… well uh…” Flora stammered as she looked down. She seemed like she wanted to and yet was reluctant to do so for whatever reason.
Soleil nudged Flora a little, encouraging her to go for it. When would she get another chance to impress a guild leader like this?
“W-well… I guess I wouldn’t mind sharing.” Flora smiled a little. “T-though could we take this outside or something?”
“Of course!” Chandra smiled. She led the way outside in the hallway to hopefully provide the privacy that Flora had requested.

“Well for starters, Heal Pulse is a rather fascinating move. The ability to heal injuries quicker than usual is a rare technique to have. Not many Pokémon can even learn such a move, without the aid of tools of course. What sort of training did you have to go through to use such a technique?” Chandra asked.
“W-well um…” Flora stammered a little. She paused to take a moment to process what she had asked. “It’s a move that I had for as long as I could remember. I didn’t learn it from anyone. I’ve just known how to do it.” Flora said with a frown. That probably wasn’t very helpful was it?
“Hmm… It sounds to me like this is an egg move. That in of itself is rather fascinating.” Chandra said with a slight nod. “How exactly does it work?” She asked. Realizing the confusion on Flora’s face she needed to elaborate her question. “Your move Heal Pulse. How does it work exactly?”
It wasn’t often that she came across a Pokémon that could use such a move. There were plenty of moves that could be used to heal oneself. Most were parasitic or draining in nature, though there were the occasional moves that used the environment itself to heal an individual. But rarely did she come across someone with a move that was specifically used to heal others instead.
“W-well… How do I explain it?” Flora wondered out loud. She thought about how to best explain it before coming up with a possible solution. “Well… you know how our bodies heal normally on their own? If I get a paper cut, or scrape my knee, my body will heal on its own. Eventually of course.”
“Of course,” Chandra nodded. She paused in thought as she was beginning to grow a suspicion where she was going with this.
“R-right so um… I-I’m not exactly healing someone myself like people think though. It’s more like I’m boosting and speeding up a person’s healing process. If a cut would take a day to heal it would only take a second to heal thanks to me."
“Ah, I see! So then injuries which would take days to heal would be a matter of minutes or even seconds.” It wasn’t that she was healing the person themselves. Rather she was accelerating a person’s own ability to heal itself. How fascinating!
“O-of course that isn’t without its costs.” Flora stammered a little. “I need to be concentrating really well for it to work. Plus, if I’m tired it won’t really work. A-and I can’t really help someone if they’re tired or exhausted. I mean… I can heal their injuries I can’t exactly make them get back up if they’re tired.” She would know from healing Soleil after her training.
“Hmm… I’m also assuming there’s a limit to what you can actually heal. Correct?”
“R-right,” Flora said with a small frown. There was a limit as to what she was capable of actually healing. She’d rather not test her limit and suggest for others to not get hurt in the first place.
“Well this has all been rather fascinating! I’d like to thank you for your time Flora.” She offered a fin to her. “This has been rather enlightening. It’s not every day I get to learn more on the healing techniques. I look forward to hearing more from you and your team.”
“T-thanks,” Flora took her fin and smiled. “I-If you need anything else let us know.”
“I will,” Chandra chuckled as she began to float back to her own office.

Flora smiled before she went back to check on Soleil. She figured she’d be fine but she knew that cleaning wasn’t exactly her favorite hobby. She was humming was she walked back and looked rather happy with herself. She was delighted to have explained her technique to someone else. It wasn’t everyday she got to talk about healing practices.
Still, there was a lot she didn’t know herself. Though this fact didn’t bother Flora as much. She was hopeful to learn more on healing practices while she was here in Tabira.
