Yay, the finished version is up...hm, the bar in the back is funny.

Supposed to draw a daily ritual which happens for me to be drinking a Mountain Dew, and then I threw in the MP3 player (Sansa Rhapsody, not the best) and the white book and pencil to add a little more umph to it.

The paper is a color that is a light beige, although you really can't tell in this picture. What's really sad is that you can see where there had once been a can above the can. That's where I just shrunk it and could not get that charcoal to come off. Oh dear.

Got a good crit on this the day of the crit. In case you're wondering what the stuff is on, that's the extension of an arm of a chair that is my dorm room. The bars on the bottom are what holds up the arm. That's why it curves on one side and then just stops on the other. That's what it looks like. I might put the bar on the bottom that the vertical bars would be connected to. I like the brown in the background better than the white wall that would be there.

Feel free to crit on anything, although it won't be changed, just noted for next time.

(Yes, this proves I'm still alive. Yes, I'm still drawing. No, I'm not on dA as dedicatively as I used to be, but it's still my homepage if that means anything).

Stuff:
--Materials: black and white charcoal
--Time: I'd say...9 hours.

Enjoy!

Nicely done. I like how it all came together in the end

I really love how this piece is coming along.
The monochromatic colors really set the mood in this.
I'm with heartless on this one you have definitely improved since last we saw your work.

I do have a few critics. I do wish that the shading was a bit more unified and smooth. Right now it's very choppy, granted the overall mood allows for it. It's just a personal preference.

I'm not a fan of the white background either. Perhaps if you added in some other objects in the background? or maybe even lightly color the background a light brown. I dunno the blue, gray, and black colors would really pop more if there was some brown color somewhere in the background, even if it's lighter.

That's all for critic and the funny thing is I just started my Drawing II class as well.

Thanks for the crit! I do also wish that the shading was smoother.

The background irl is actually a light beige color, definitely not that white. The background of the actual set up is a white wall, so what is in the back is white. I agree with you on that as well.

Looks really good so far. You've really improved. O= The composition is my favorite part about this, though. It's like everything is looking at something to my left. And charcoal's hard to control, for me at least, and you seem to use it well. :D

Ah, thank you. I was trying to find a composition that I really liked and hadn't done before, so I'm glad you like it and that it turned out well. I'm hoping to have it smoother and more refined before I turn it in.
