I love Studio Ghibli films. By far, most of their films are probably my all time favourites. With that being said, Princess Mononoke will always be one of those, easily.
I remember watching it as a kid growing up, and to this day, I still am mesmerised by how beautiful the film is, how enchanting the art, the style and use of colour is. It's magical.
It's hard to say which is my all time favourite Studio Ghibli film, but Mononoke is high up there for many reasons. Besides from the art/film itself, it was the characters and what they stood for. Mononoke (San), is the epitome of that.
She is the female protagonist who stands for resilience, independence, and the courage to fight for justice. She's strong, and that was what I find so beautiful about the film.
It's not some cheesy 'heroine needs to be saved' kind of film. She stands and fights for herself, while the 'hero', fights alongside her. I love that about the film, about San.
My question to you guys is then, what's your favourite Studio Ghibli film, and why?
