Today's Disney Valentine; Pocahontas and John Smith!
I absolutely LOVE this scene, it's always been hands down, one of the tops of my favourite all time scenes. The song sequence itself is just incredible and unforgettable, the colours, the design and the beauty of it all. It just takes you to a different place, a good kind.

I struggled quite a lot with this one, because I wanted to get the look to be really 'dreamy' with rhythm and flow rather than too crisp and clear. The best part though, was the return of hair and the light ribbons I love to draw. Miss doing them so much!!!!

The Disney Valentines: I've decided to take on a bit of a (massive) challenge to celebrate the upcoming Valentine's Day. In retrospect, Disney's animated films have got, hands down, some of the most mesmerizing, unforgettable scenes that are just pwoahhhhhh. So I've decided to recreate these Disney scenes leading up to Valentine's Day over the next few days!

This is amazing! Definitely looks dreamy - especially the light! I love the colours, their expressions, and your light ribbons. They suit Pocahontas perfectly, both the wind and the river she loves so much!:aww:

I absolutely love your art and the magical way you have with colors, it's truly inspiring to me to see how you breathe life and light into the drawings/paintings you make. I've watched your speed paints on youtube and I'm just baffled.

I just have two massive questions eating at the back of my mind: How do you pick the colors?! And how do you get such smooth lines with the hair and the ribbons? It's just truly amazing.

Keep up the great work, you really are a dream worker. <3

Thank you! That means so much to hear (AND MAKES ME SO HEPPI ♥)

Ah! Well in terms of picking colours, its a bit hard to describe how or why I choose them but my style of colour uses a bit of colour theory to support it. For example, if I want to create a very warm and vibrant piece, and my colour palette is exclusively cold colours like blues, greys or greens, I'd use a warmer complementary or opposing colour to bring warmth and to break up the palette to create the energy/warmth despite a predominantly cool palette, ie using a red/orange to make the colours pop. I hope that makes sense?

The smooth lines are hard to describe too HAHHA. I've always drawn and loved to draw lines with fluidity and curve, so that kind of translate from my pencil work into my digital work. There's no real process how i do it besides from using a standard brush and shaping it til it feels right.
