Final Yawn by KeldBach Final Yawn by KeldBach
After having slept all day, submerged in the water, one of the Hippos (Hippopotamus amphibius) suddenly surfaced with a big yawn. He's a huge fella and weighs about two tonnes. Taken at the Copenhagen Zoo. See also:

Indeed. I was quite lucky to get this shot. Most of the day the hippos are submerged and you only see the eyes and ears once in a while :)

I find that hippos are quite challenging to photograph - it's hard for me to make them look interesting =P Usually when I go to a zoo I spend less time at elephants and hippos =) I don't go often to the zoo so gotta spend my time good =P

There were only a couple visitors present, since the hippos were submerged most of the time. I was just taking a short break by the shore, when this guy suddenly emerged and I was lucky to get a few good shots before he disappeared again :)
