I think George Orwell would rotate in his grave, if he would knew whats going on at the moment.
All his distopias became real and even worse that he couldn't imagine.

You're absolutely right, Finny. And there's actually a documentary called Orwell Rolls In His Grave. Watch it when you have the time :)

This article from Dennis Prager came to mind...

"8. Unlike conservatives, politics gives most leftists’ lives meaning. Climate change is a good example. For leftists, fighting carbon emissions means saving human existence on Earth. Now, how often does anyone get a chance to literally save the world? Therefore, to most leftists, if you voted for Trump, you have both negated their reason for living and are literally destroying planet Earth. Why would they have Thanksgiving or Christmas with such a person?"

In a democracy the majority are always right - even if they are wrong. You just have to accept it ;)

I'm often confused about whom you consider 'leftists' in the American political spectrum. Both democrats and liberals are considered leftists, aren't they?

In Europe both of them would be considered belonging to the centre. Only real socialists/communists belong to the left, while conservatives and nationalists belong to the right. The political spectrum seems more narrow in the US with only two major parties, while wider in Europe with several large parties.

Dennis is probably referring to the progressive/liberal faction.
