I found him out in the garden in one of his favorite spots to catch some sun, and I buried him at the feet of a Quan-Lin statue, the same place where I lay to rest all of Nature's casualties found around the yard.
Gomer the cat passed away today. You might know him as the cat who posed for the painting Ship's Cat I hope he gets another chance at cat-dom, only next time without that constant, hideous, loud yowl that kept him from feline stardom. His heart was in the right place and he really tried to be a good cat, but could never figure out how to turn off that yowl.
Sorry to hear of your loss of this very kewl cat Keith. You sound like a loving soul - making sure he was buried with such love and care. Like you said (below) - he died peacefully - which is a good thing. Thankyou for sharing this wonderful puddy cat with us on dA - i have his picture in my collection. I believe we will see our animals and others again one day. You gave him a good and safe home whilst he was on this planet! RIP Gomer
Thank you. He really went downhill after my Dad passed away...I guess it was his time to go join him.
Thank you...he was getting to be very old and was already acting kind of senile. He had an easy exit...I'm glad of that.
It always hard to lose a beloved pet, sorry you lost him.
Awww, poor kitty!
aww, I'm sorry
Thank you. He was a very old kitty, and he died sleeping in the sun. I can think of worse ways to go.
Sorry to read about Gomer and hope he did not suffer. He certainly had a wonderful life with you and he'll always be remembered in your beautiful paintings
He showed up almost 15 years ago...just walked in to the studio one night. He and my Dad got on real well.
I guess your Dad feels very sad. We all still miss our cat and she died a couple of years ago. Gomer walked into the right studio at the right time - smart cat
From the photo and the painting, he must have been a beautiful cat. I'm sure he'll befriend my Kitty Lady out there.
Yeah. I miss him. I was afraid he would do a kind of cheshire cat thing...he would vanish but his yowl would remain.
I am so sorry for your loss. My deepest condolences.
The best way in the world for a cat to move on, gently, at home in the sun.
Yeah. When he wasn't yowling he was actually a good kitty, so in the end I think he deserved his last day asleep in the sunshine
He was also senile. As near as I could tell, he died in his sleep in one of his favorite spots out in the garden.
