A day at the horse racing by keiross A day at the horse racing by keiross
Not the sort of horse you may have been expecting :giggle:

This little fellow lives in 'Underwater World' in Hastings (if you ever find yourself in that neck of the woods, I'd highly recommend a visit). They have a few seahorses there, I found them truly fascinating. It's difficult to express just how gracefully the float around the water, powered only by a rapidly fluttering fin. They're so elegant. But did you know that the male sea horses are the ones that give birth, and this sucker looks like he's ready to pop! :fear:

Anyway, I liked the overall colour of this shot. I'd like to thank the little guy for being a good model and holding the pose for me while I got a good shot :aww:

This is my first ever proper photography submission! :w00t:

you're welcome! it is a little cutie. I've only seen them a few times (and none when i've had a camera ¬_¬;)
i would have left a longer comment on your underground train, but i wasn't around for long- i'll leave a longer one when i've got time ;-)

Wonderful capture. I've never seen a sea horse in person, but that's a very nice close up of one. I love all of the colors and how focused it is.

I did know that male sea horses are the ones that carry the babies, but that's probably because I love biology. I wouldn't have noticed that in the picture, if you didn't mention it though.

You should check them out in real life, because they are so graceful and delicate - the way they float around the water is something else.

I need to get to an aquarium that has them. The ones I went to, if they had them, I didn't see any. All I saw were fish and sharks. I'd much rather see sea horses than sharks considering I'm terrified of sharks and the thickness of the glass seperating me from them isn't comforting.

I saw some amazing Great Whites when I went to Sea World in San Diego the other month - so I know what you mean! But yeah... sea horses are really captivating in a weird kind of way.

Thanks! I used a Sony Cyber-shot, it has 7.2 mega pixels and is pretty pricey... I'm still learning how to use the basics effectively...

What a lovely shot! The colors are just wonderful =) I would like to see it with a smaller black border as the current one is a bit overwhelming - perhaps a tiny 1-2 pixel white border right around the image itself then a thinner black border around that might make it pop even more  Either way its great though!

Thanks for the comment!

And a big thanks for the advice on the border, this is the first time I've ever submitted a photo, so I didn't really know what to do, so I just went for something simple. When I get a sec I think I'll try out your suggestion  Thanks again!

Oh Eriksy, I do love it when you tease me like this, you naughty boy! *giggles*

And anyway, shut your face, this is more of a medium faded red I'll have you know. I thought you'd be able to make the distinction seeing as nearly all your deviations are pink and you own a pink top.

( :whisper: no you got it right the first time, I was just being th-toopid and taking advantage of my deficient sentence structure).

I'm at the main office today, with my back to quite a busy door, so it's best not have flashing orange windows.

Normal service should be resumed tomorrow afternoon 8-)

I will admit, seeing a sea horse swim is definitely something you have to watch because it's rather graceful.
I almost forgot that little factoid. Thanks for the reminder. :)

Yes there was! :star: for you! It was in 1066! :omfg: You can see a pic of the ruins in my journal.

It's not surprising you remember though, as the French won and that didn't happen very much when they fought the English :giggle:

Thanks for the comment
