My Championships

Well, I know it has been a while, but I finally managed to take a picture of my belt (seen on a previous cosplay pic). But I decided to include one of my own along with it.

On bottom is the SNK Championship, worn along with my Sie Kensou cosplay. Note the nameplate on bottom.

On top is the ACW (Anime Championship Wrestling) World OAV Championship (if you watch anime, I wont have to explain "OAV"). The ACW does not exist, it is something of my own creation (though still in design stages a.k.a. "square one")

Both belts were made basically out of matting board, masking tape, and clear packing tape.

I gave that belt to my GF's little brother.  I can easily make a new one, but if I do, I will certainly upgrade it.  And fix the name,... I believe it is supposed to be the OVA championship

I know that. I was only going by the way that the belt in the picture had it.

Amazing belts man, Are you thinking of doing a tutorial (i do make belts as well, but i use black duct tape and gonna use foam board in near future)

I wanna see how u make belts as well

Hmm... I didn't think about it. Its pretty simple actually. Just think in 3-dimensional terms. Rather than make a single belt piece, you gotta layer it. Granted the OAV belt is single image layer (has a few layers behind it, just to give it thickness). But look closely at the SNK belt. The Champion label on the bottom, see how it pops out? Its all layered matting board, pieces placed on top of each other, and then covered in masking tape to put it all together (and color stays on it fairly well). Then, to protect it, cover the entire belt piece with clear packaging tape. This not only protects the color, but also gives it a metallic shine (of sort)

i didn't know that, maybe for my next belt (after I made my first ever leather strap tape belt) - I might consider making a spinner belt but with layers

The belt straps are actually a kind of felt material (leather is just too damn expensive). Two pieces sewn together, with possibly some material in-between, to give it weight.

hmm, anyway i could get tips, or steps to make a belt of my own? i wont immitate yours, lol just always wanted to make one of my own

Well, it was pretty much just trial and error. I got these screw things from OSH, and made the belt plates as a few layers of matte board (putting the screw thingies through the bottom layer). Then when I make the belt part, I cut holes for the screws, poke them through, and screw on the back part. Not exactly screws, not sure what they are called.

its all really basic stuff

what are the screws look like? just curiuse
Keiichi-K1's avatar
they have like a flat back with a small tube thingy sticking out a centimeter, and a small screw that screws into it on the other side... something like that

hmm, cool. i should try that.

Wow, I love these!
It makes me want to make a King of Fighters, or a Capcom Championship belt.
I doubt anything I make would look as great as that SNK title.
Its wonderful.

well, I lost the SNK belt to Hasuko at a tournament a few weeks ago.

It wasnt for the belt originally, but when I finished DEAD LAST, I felt I didnt have the right to carry it. So when she won the tournament, I presented the belt to her. With the understanding that I will be back at the next tournament to win it back.

BUT, I will be making a brand new belt specific to the venue, which I hope will represent the tournament until it ends. At which time I will be taking my SNK belt back anyway.

That is awesome!
There is a true history to the belt now!

I've got to make one now.
I'm going to try and use foamie sheets, glue, a marker, and some gold paint for the plates. I have some brown vynal that could work as the strap. For the buckle snaps I might just use 2 smaller belts.

Just remember the belt strap has to have some weight and sturdiness to it. I used black vynal for this, front and back, with some interfacing layers in between. I forgot exactly what sort of interfacing I used (because it has been a while, and I can't see inside it) but you need it to be stiff enough that it stays straight when you hold it up on its side. But it is purely up to you.

Mine are just layered matting board, covered all around with masking tape. Put all the color on it, then cover everything with clear packing tape. This protects the color, as well as makes it resistant to a little water. You cannot dunk it, obviously, but if you get something splashed on it, it will be okay.

you LOL'd? At my Championships? Are you trying to say I am not worthy of being SNK or World OAV Champion? T~T

;-; I just thought it was a creative idea! <-- [ thought they were real at first]

hehe, I wish. The SNK belt is a real one in a way, because I lost it to someone in a video game tournament.

I finished dead last, so I decided to give it to the winner. With the understanding that I will be back at the next tournament to win it back

Lol~ So cool. x3 I hope you get it back.
