About #Keep-Drawing

This is a group for people who want a fun way to keep you drawing. Once every 2 weeks, a theme/concept will be posted in the journal section. It is up to you to create artwork that fits that theme/concept, in whichever way you interpret it. You can do a quick sketch, a highly detailed picture, or anything in between!

The main purpose of this group, is to keep artists drawing! There is no obligation to do every challenge, and you choose how much time you devote toward each drawing. The group is open to artists of all skill level!

The only rule of this group, is that you submit your drawing to the proper folder!

For the next challenge, we'll be using "shape" to enhance the feel of your designs! But first, a little background as to the psychological aspect that shapes have on a design:

Circles: Using circles and rounded shapes, generally add a cute, friendly, or feminine quality to a design. Examples: babies/children, women, Santa, etc.

Squares: Using squared and rectangular shapes in your design, can make a design look strong, heavy, or reliable. Examples: Superheroes, gorillas, club bouncers, etc.

Triangles: Using triangles and jagged shapes in your design, can add a sense of danger, mystery, and menace to it. Examples: Sharks, alligators, etc.

Naturally, not every design is restricted to only using one set of shapes. Many personalities may need to incorporate a combination of these shapes for characters that are, say "Strong AND Dangerous", or "Feminine AND Mysterious", for example. Also, while all the examples I talked about/showed are referencing characters, this can (and should be) applied to objects, and backgrounds as well.

Now onto the challenge:
Design a character, object, or background element; that incorporates at least one of these basic shapes, and the principles behind it. If you choose to use 2 of them in your design, try to challenge yourself to make one of the shapes more dominant than the other one.

If you're feeling more adventurous, try doing one design for each of the three shapes/principles!

***Just to be clear: Just because you choose say, squared/rectangular shapes; doesn't mean you cannot use rounded or triangular shapes in your design! Look at the examples; in pretty much each design, there are rounded shapes, triangular shapes, and hard-edges. The main thing is to look at the recurring shapes that dominate the design, and what influence that has on it!

Good luck with this weeks challenge...I hope you guys'll enjoy it! :D

Hey, is this group still active? I noticed the last prompt was in June.

If so, perhaps our groups could be affiliated? I have a prompt-based drawing group as well, called Give-Me-A-Prompt. :) [link]
