My mom was an artist. She was the person who showed me how to paint, when I was five. When she passed away in March, she left behind at least 130 acrylic on canvas paintings, of still life subjects, portraits, animals, and landscapes. I am going to open a new DA gallery to bring these paintings to a wider audience, and hopefully to give her the lasting memorial that she deserves. Passing away in this age of COVID meant she did not get any funeral; we had expected to have a memorial service later in the year, but that's looking less likely every passing day. And her family and friends are far apart, and many of them are older and in poor health themselves, so it's unlikely that we'd have any sort of get-together, even if COVID had never happened.
