fibromyalgia stamp by Kazekoh fibromyalgia stamp by Kazekoh
I wanted to make a stamp off of fibromyalgia that used a purple ribbon or butterfly..Seeing as I havn't seen a stamp that has one as of yet.

What is fibromyalgia (Fibro, FM or FMS)?
Its a chronic pain disorder over all and sensitivity to pressure , but it has a lot of other symptoms: fatigue, difficultly sleeping and joint stiffness. bowel and bladder problems, numbness, tingling and 'brain fog' .
However, not every patient of FM has these so it has been called a syndrome rather then an independent diagnoses.
This also leads to problems were some people don't believe it is a real thing.

How is it found?
In my experience it is often found after ruling out everything else that it could be. ( Lupus, depression ect) There is no one test to prove that some one has it. What was used on me was the Fibromyalgia Tender Points method ( [link] )
In order to be dignosed a patient has to have 11 out of 18 'tender points' This doesn't work for every one, but for me it did.

If you'd like to find some support, or learn more here are some websites you can visit ^^
[link] (They have a FB page as well)

[link] (Normaly I dislike Wikipedia, but this does a good job suming it up)

[link]

And of course ask me~ I have it :D

And really feel free to use this anywhere you would like Just don't make money off of it XD

omg thankyou! i have lupus AND fibromyalgia, I'm in so much pain all the time and I'm hoping that by putting this stamp in my about me it will make people go and look up fibromyalgia and learn about it. I've been told so many times "you're just lazy" "you're faking it to get on the dole". I just wish more people would shut up and do their research before they start saying that.

ya this disease sucks :(
i remember the hours of blood work coming up with nothing and then lots of xrays then being told i have arthritis then being told it wasnt arthritis cause my joints weren't deteriorating which meant more blood work and more test and more xrays and then half a dozen cat scans then lots and lots of pokes and prodding just to hear me say ow ow ow and then jump off the table cause they hit the wrong spot then finally being told it was fibromyalgia but then being told there was nothing they could do for it and .......so ya it sucks :(

Ask your Dr. about Savella, even 300mg or Lyrica wasn't enough in my case. I am so sorry- God Bless you.

thanks and God bless you as well :) unfortunately i have no insurance [working at subway don't do much for ya except free and discounted food lol] so i have no way to pay for a Dr. nor for any meds. pretty much all i got is over the counter ibuprofen [which isn't exactly good for you lol]

sorry if this sounds a little winy just needed to vent a little frustration.

you aren't whining. we are in pain and it is real. get wheat/GLUTEN -out- of your diet. it helps. look up the fibro cookbook on amazon or fibro-friendly recipes.

No, it doesn't sound weird at all. I actually had the same feeling. I also felt relief knowing it wasn't something I was imagining. I was actually at the point that I was starting to doubt myself.

i know what you mean it was getting irritating getting the run around with doctors to the point i was like "is this actually happening or am i going crazy!" my brother still thinks im making it up [though how he thinks i would want to huddled up in a ball in pain is beyond me]

Posting in it my stamps. I was just recently diagnosed with it. Not a great thing but I look at it as I could have something a LOT worse.

I have it as well, and I've come across the problem of people taking it very lightly. People seem to think of it more as an ache similar to what you'd get when you have the flu. They don't understand how incredibly aggressive this pain can be, how it's not just an "ache" but real PAIN.

I have met a few different people with fibro and it makes me ache that people still look down on them for something they can't help. I ordered a book that one of those friends' mom wrote about the experience and I will be a supporter of people with fibro for the rest of my life. Including you and paintedbluerose just below, I've heard of or talked to seven people with the condition.

Just know that people with fibro aren't the only people on your side. I believe in this cause because it truly effects people I know and support.

Haha I am very sorry for commenting so late. ^^;

I thank you for your support ^^ It is nice to have people out there who don't have the condition who are understanding.
I am actually curious about the book you are talking about. I am always interested in how other people work through their pain and their experiences.

I have a few friends who help me ^^ And I am grateful for people like you whom help people like me <3 Thank you

I have fibromyalgia too...even though I haven't been officially diagnosed with it. At least not yet. The past year has been agonizing to say the least...having depression already and now incurable chronic pain that doesn't let up. There've been times when I seriously thought my life was going to end at that moment...it's just a rather lonely and isolated syndrome that makes it harder for the victim to cope with everyday life. It's affected me a lot...I now spend a lot of time in my room, barely get opportunities to exercise, and am often forced to check my many daily messages using only my Wii's internet browser and with a Wii Remote to type with like I am now...since it hurts to sit at a computer for too long. The only escape I get from it is during the times I get any sleep. Even then, it's a bit painful. This is something I'd never wish on anyone...not even my own worst enemy. Just wish the pain could go away forever...my quality of life has been decreased severely ever since...and I'm afraid of my future...

...Thank you for making this stamp in an attempt to spread awareness. Means a lot.

Mhm, >: I can relate to this unfortunately... That was how I was for a few years and during my freshmen year of college. I wish that there was some way to help you, but I'm on the other side of a computer screen. I know some resources that I have found since I made this stamp if you want me to share.

All I can suggest is, when you can exercise, try water aerobics. Its amazing what it can do. And to be honest, when I am in the water I don't hurt so it makes life more bearable.

Hang in there okay? I know its hard too, but.. It can get better. And I hope it does for you really soon.

And yep yep ^^ I want to help as much as I can.

Sorry for the late reply, busy bee and I wanted to give this a well thought reply

Sure, if you'd like to.

But yeah, I'm trying to explore different ways, it's hard to keep up with life even normally, without a job. It's scary....feeling like your eighty when you're only twenty-one. And sometimes I feel really isolated and alone. I dunno...it's complex.

But thanks a lot for your kind and thoughtful comment back...it means a lot.
