Areas of Russia have become more and more popular among Urban Explorers, particularly areas within the former Soviet Bloc. Some of the images that are out there online are chilling, and risky. Check out this BBC Article which shares just a few of the more recent ones. Under Russian law, trespassing on private property is punishable by a small fine, but entering abandoned and unguarded buildings is usually legal. Some owners have even commissioned urban explorers to enter their abandoned property such as factories, and take photographs for them. Here on deviantART there are some great Urbex photographs from Russia, check them out below...

Urban Exploration is the exploration of man-made structures. Usually these are abandoned ruins, or components that used to be part of everyday life but are no longer seen on a regular basis by the human eye. This series of articles aims to highlight exactly what Urban Exploration is, how it's achieved and the some of the best Urbex Photographers here on deviantART.
