I'm quite late hopping on the discussion wagon with this one since FritsPlays tells me the article has been trending for some time now. However I was eternally grateful to him for pointing me in its general direction - because what a topic!McDonalds show behind the photo-graphical scenes because a customer in Canada asked why the food looks so different in real life. If you watch the video included in the article, it's actually very insightful. And what a team they have JUST to photograph a burger. What the video does show is that everything in the photo, every ingredient you see, is exactly the same as what you are given in real life. They even melt the cheese down to look just right!
There's also something else that caught my eye - and that's the topic of Photography Classes. Quite often, these days, it seems that anybody and everybody is offering a Photography Course pretty much in their own back garden. But amongst those trying to make a fast few pennies, there are those with excellent skill and insight that are more than willing to share, and for a not too hefty price. Have you ever been on such a course or taster day? The particular one that caught my eye (but is way out of my price range) is Photographing London from Sunrise to Sunset.
In exploring The Guardian somewhat, I stumbled across some fantastic techniques from the photography team for the newspaper. Having Photographed the likes of Gemma Arterton and James Blunt,Alicia Canter is definitely up there in the list of women I wish to be!! Ahem. However that aside, she's a top festival and events photographer for the newspaper and advises, "You won't regret taking a stepladder into the pit. "

Conceptual Photography
Community Volunteer DemonMathiel
The Power of Ideas is a series of articles from DemonMathiel which explores the concept behind an image. Conceptual Art is all about the idea - the saying goes From concept to creation and is often quite a lengthy process from when an idea is formed to when it's finally realized in its full entity. The series of articles really will help to spark some creativity if you're lacking!
Fashion Photography
Community Volunteer Pixel-Spotlight
Remember that Photography -> Commercial -> Fashion also goes to Pixel-Spotlight if you want to suggest a piece for a daily deviation rather than to general photography CVs. This week once again BitterBeanJuicer has posted Fashion Friday!

There's a wonderful Street Photography Feature out from PEN-at-Work which showcases a collection of favourites from The-Yard-Collective. Street Photography is widely abused on deviantART simply because people don't realise what it's all about. Check out the feature for some clarity. The Mind's Eye is a book review by StamatisGR and myraincheck who together have reviewed and illustrated with art from deviantart - a book!
Featured Tutorial
This week I was pointed in the direction of SnapSort and thus stumbled across a Night Photography Cheat Sheet! I don't know about you, but I struggle to remember what settings to utilise and so on when shooting at night, and this little sheet is simply amazing in terms of usefulness!

"These are just rough settings however, and it's
always best to experiment! We would advise that you use these settings
as a starting point."

Photography Books & Ezines
For the past few weeks I've bombarded you with Photography Books that are available on Amazon and other various online sites. However times are tough, money is tight, and quite often for a lot of people, purchasing a new book just to get creative or drool over some wonderful work, is just not feasible. That's where Ezines become so awesome. Therefore this week, instead of throwing a costly awesome hardback at you, I have a simple, free, URL that will take you to some wonderful photography work, concepts and creations. Enter Fotoblur magazine. Free, clickable, and droolworthy!
July Photography Exhibitions
With Summer just around the corner (or so the English hope) the increase in festivals, fetes, exhibitions and shows is apparent. I thought that an introduction of some of the Photography Exhibitions going on might be quite useful. Feel free to note me if you know of a local exhibition that needs to be added! Unfortunately for international deviants right now - all I am featuring is UK based. However if anyone wants to help me out with this feature and collect info from further afield I would be very grateful!
