Last month we discussed Photo-journalism Rules and 1pen provided us with some great insight into her views and thoughts on the matter. The top Comment was from Orchideacae who wins 50 Points for their thoughtful contribution!

"I was watching "Peace, Love and Misunderstanding", and there was a poster- of a photographer and a militiaman. The militiaman was pointing a gun at the photographer, and the photographer had his camera focused on the militiaman.

The poster said,I don't remember exactly, "One of these men protects your freedom".

Photo-journalism rules, because what you can't put up in a million words, you can express with one snap of your camera."

This month we're talking about Technology V Skill. Do you think that Technology is taking over the traditional 'skill' of a Photographer? Are we dis-abling ourselves from achieving our full potential by having more expensive, higher tech equipment to capture our shots? Or is technology there to encourage us to keep hold of what we've learned over the years?
With the development of cameras that can 'think' for you, instead of you doing the work, the big debate has grown which looks at whether or not we're doing ourselves favours. Have you found yourself capturing a better or worse shot due to the technology you own? Drop your thoughts in the comments of this article and once again, a top response will be chosen at the end of November!

I remember, when I was very young, starting as a "Photo-taker", with my father's very own Yashika. It was a funny  thing to me, how the lens split the little circle in the middle of the image into two, until it was brought to a proper position. And when it was,I could see one perfect image, and then Snap!

Years have passed,I've got my own Cannon 1100D. And it's a pleasure taking photos! But at times I miss the wonder of taking photos with that old Yashika, curiosity of how it works.
I'm not against technology at all,and I'm very satisfied with my camera when set manually, I still feel the photos I took with Yashika, were more lovely, and lively than the ones I'm taking now.I didn't need to polish them with software back then.

That is exactly where skill rules over tech. Camera, digital or not,is a tool. You're skilled enough to use it,it brings something marvelous out of you. You're not, technology can't help you.

Besides, When your camera sets the field for you, where's the thrill?
