Since I used to be a Christian and my family experienced hard times, this page hits home. Remember my mom always telling me to pray and God would always be there. I remember there were a few times she would say she "must not be praying hard enough".

Good work!

I absolutely love how dark this is, and the wiggly hand righting really gives it a personal touch. I can almost hear the hyenas deep, yet sultry growl of a voice.

I was a little confused by the "god" but after thinking it over, I don't mind. These are characters in a separate universe from our own, their use of the word "god" could be anything.

I cannot wait to see where this story heads.
It's very clean, crisp, bright and dark. This has the making of a great professional comic.

The only criticism I have, is the mouth of the mother on the last panel, with her mouth open.

It's just off, square, the lower jaw doesn't quite fit, and it's unclear if it's broken and that's why it looks so high, allowing you to see the entire roof of her mouth.

I'd raise the lower jaw and lower the top to create a slightly more measured muzzle. But then again, perhaps it's meant to be like that.

Some find it weird how they can believe in "God".
First off: Who says it is a God like we humans believe in?
I saw concept arts of a God and Goddess of sun and moon - so it could easily be that Swiftkill is talking about the God who heals or even the God of death, who knows.
If someone asks why she would not clearly state which God... well, it is probably pretty obvious to her and her mom or she doesn't know of the other ones yet.
Another possibility could be that Kay and Fable just want the multiple Gods to be a surprise and just let people think it is only one :).

Plus, people often forget that the animals in the comic are humanized and therefore they can have or show human-like structure / behaviour (religion, unusual relationships [with "prey" for example], politics, etc.).

About the handwriting: I don't really mind, it is okay and I think it gives the comic a personal touch.
Just do what you like to do and how you want to portrait it as (I will miss Nightrun though, as a member of that tiny group :C).
On the next page, however, the black speechbubbles are a bit harder to read, so I would try to write less "wiggly" :).

All in all I am VERY happy that BBA is back :D!!
I would like to know your original storyline or ideas for the old comic, if that is possible at one point .
Maybe when this new one is done?
It just interests me a great deal - I'm ... weird at that ^^....

I'm really excited that you're picking this up again. I followed the BBA stories back from when I was an angsty teen playing furcadia. You've really improved and even though you don't know me and we're not really acquainted. I'm proud of how far you have come.

So excited for this comic to start up again. I can't wait to see how you guys will create the story this time  <3
The injury in the second panel looks incredibly realistic, you did amazingly on that ! My only critique would be that the realism of the injury doesn't entirely match with the semi-realistic style that the comic is in. Still amazing page though, I can't wait for more :D

I think the text has been edited since i first looked at it monday? I like the hand drawn speech bubbles, and the text now fits better. Tho i dont think there's anything wrong with handwritten text!!

...I saw this in a horror has such a emotionless, confused vibe... Like Swiftkill is either remorseless or not accepting her death. I don't know...
Nice work! ^-^

she's young. I would say the gravity of the situation and that her mother's death may be inevitable is a little over her head.

Are it written by hand? Lol, something new and unexpected! Beautiful piece! Very glad to see BBA is brought to life again. Thanks much to Kay, Erin and others, who made it. You are great! Keep it on!
Also, if I see it right, you tried to keep old BBA style like in classic version? Am I wrong? BBA Preview was too... Different and new. It's not bad, but BBA Classic was my childhood and means a lot for me and a lot of other fans.
AYSTAY Featured By Owner Aug 30, 2016  Hobbyist General Artist
this is like....I hope I can express myself in fuckin' creepy
as I guess no child would
1. sit way back behind his dying mother
2. not cry and flip out when the mother is dying
3. say things so calmly like this...possibly in the same tone as "Mom i did my homework can i go play now?" or in this case "Mom i prayed for your dying body can i go (as god will be with you now)?"

shit it has an undertone that reminds me of Stephen King's stories...bUT I LIKE WHERE THIS IS GOING.

btw the thing that disturbed me the most is the angle of Mom's head. and her opened mouth. I dont now, it really hits a certain spot???
KayFedewa Featured By Owner Aug 30, 2016
Yeah I get what you're saying - but I think it can be a bit presumptuous to assume that a child (or otherwise) only has one appropriate reaction to witnessing horror, and that is to scream and cry.

As a child I never ever reacted to death that way, because I didn't understand much about it, including it's permanence. The less exposure to death and mortality a child has, I think the less likely hey are to understand it's significance and therefore less likely to react in ways that we, as adults, expect.
So I am writing this from my experience and from the point of view of a character who has heretofore never been exposed to something like this.

Thank you for the comment!
AYSTAY Featured By Owner Aug 31, 2016  Hobbyist General Artist
yes, thats a point of view I can completely comprehend the way you explained it!
And I remembered when I was a child and my grandma died(the first death I experienced); firstly my brain deleted the memory of how my parents told me; but I didnt cry until her funeral (where it all was clear that she wont ever come back)
I thought the sight of blood and your injured parent would make you at least panic (and not be that calm)? But how you said, this is a thing an adult expects and is more likely to do as a child, I think

nontheless, i like the start of the comic and it makes me shiver in anticipation for more!! :'D

I think too that since these are animals: their concept of death isn’t as tragic or harrowing as a human’s would typically be. Especially if the animal’s young.

Plus, many very young children from my experience, unless they see someone being murdered or tortured, tend to not react negatively towards a calmly dying being or corpse. More or less they’re curious or slightly disgusted.

Psychologically down the road however,  when they recall that memory from a more mature perspective, you can get some forms of “fridge ptsd” for lack of a better phrase.

TL;DR: I see no problem with this depicted scenario from an emotional standpoint for a variety of reasons.

That’s just my two cents!
