Personality:With time and training, her lack of confidence grows every day. With her wins and high praises she steps out with more and more confidence but one thing is for sure, she is still a VERY gentle mare. She has a soft spot for foals and is often seen squeezing her head through the fence just to nuzzle them. She takes in little children with the same softness and has made a great kid's horse.
History
Year 1 at Crimson: We've done some research into Emma's racing tattoo, and it appears that we have quite the little goldmine! Emma was sired by Glacial Gold, a rare cremello thoroughbred ASB stud with good racing lines. And her dam is Miss Morocco who is also an ASB TB and is also out of superb racing lines. No wonder she does so well on the track!
Day 128 at Crimson: Emma has grown. She seems to accept the assurance of her new home and even greets us when we come out to the barn with a very quiet and tender nicker.
Day 141 at Sweetbriar: This is our newest sweetie-pie, Emma. She's a fairly young TB, about 7 years old now. Over the last 18 months at Sweetbriar, we've been working with Emma to put (and keep) weight on, and waiting for her hooves to grow out so the horrible cracks in them could be mended. She had to wear a boot on her front-left due to a severe infection she'd developed. Her coat was rain-rotted and her tail matted from burrs.
Her original owners purchased her and began training her for flat racing at the age of two. She'd entered into several minor races, but didn't do as well as expected. She wasn't bringing in the prize money any longer, so she was boarded at a pay-per-ride trail riding barn. Emma was young & feisty at age 5, so she wasn't the first choice for the many inexperienced riders. She couldn't provide her owners with much income there either. We were told that with the downed economy, the owners had to remove her from the boarding stable, instead tying her out behind their house with a small run-in shed for shelter. Eventually, they lost the money for feeding Emma, and ended up having to sell their home as well. Emma was left tied up behind the house and had been without food for 7 days, and the little water she had left was green with algae. Her long lead was tangled around some trees she'd walked past, and she could not reach her shelter. This petite mare was a sight for sore eyes when she was confiscated!
Originally taken on by *diamonddg at Cobra Farms from a rescue that needed a bit of extra help, Emma has proved to be a wonderfully quiet mare. We believe she's been let-down by humans and neglected too long to care any longer. She's getting some of her spunk back through the months, as she realizes she's home for good!
We haven't researched her lip tattoo to date. Perhaps when we check it out, we'll find out a bit more of her story.

She is young enough to have a successful riding career, but we don't know the extent of her training. Currently, she needs to gain a lot of weight and have her hooves cared for. She has overrun heels, cracked hooves, and needs a trim. It appears that she may have begun training as a racehorse when she was young, but we haven't researched her lip tattoo yet. Emma has some superficial scars.
