We are the most consciously intelligent. Creatures like dolphins and even gorillas are far more wise tha we are, and you notice that these creatures will not find a need to kill or capture each other as humans do. They aren't dominant, because they choose not to be dominant. We are just like other animals, such as dogs, cats and chimpanzees, because we are smart in the 'book smarts' sense, but we crave dominance, and while other animals such as said dolphins have some of the same priorities that we do, they know what's important, and they live in a far happier state than we do. We are the most powerful of the 'book smarts' animals, so we took over, with our guns and bombs, and for their own reasons, the dolphins did not mind.
Long story short, the animals that could, won't , and the animals that will, can't. We are the only ones who will and can.
From a friend of mine: "whether the opinion is based on science, alechelmy, or religion, the fact remains the same, Animals could be more dominate than Humans, they choose not to, which allows humans to have domination over the planet"
but are we the highest in intellegence and power? For what we have, we are. But animals can be even smarter then us and almost always are. And almost all animals are much more powerful then us, just not in the same ways.
