...I'm confused...
You use their software in CS + a cloud for $50 a month?
That seems kinda like a rip-off. Maybe just buying CS would be better in the long-run.

Okay, the way I understand it is this: The software is NOT cloud based, there's just some cloud-based features included. The software will still be installed on your hard drive just like before and you will not need an internet connection to use it. With the subscription you will get all the new features as soon as they come out, rather then getting bundled updates every 18-24 months like in their previous update schedule. So, for example, lets say they come out with an improvement to brush stabilization in photoshop. You can get that as soon as it comes out rather than waiting for months and then getting a huge bundle of updates that include the new stabilization function.

As for paying it, it is basically a rental system. You pay for it, you can use it. You don't, you can't. They will continue to support CS6 with bug and security hole repair, and will make sure it will work with the next versions of windows and Mac OS, but they will no longer be developing new features for it.

I don't even use Photoshop and that's ridiculous. :u

I think I'll just save up for Sai now.

I've heard there's a change.org petition going 'round for this, but I can't seem to find it. :c

If I end up finding it again, would you like the link?

I'm going to give it a shot, but only because I'll get it free through my school.

If its free go for it ... but i just forked out god knows what for photoshop CS6, lightroom 3 and after effects and now they put something new out there i cant upgrade with and they expect me to pay monthly in order to just use it ... what if i dont have an internet connection? what if my connection dies when im in the middle of something? is it secure? has it been tested?
i dont know what their goal is but im going to stick with CS6 for a longgg time apparently

From what I've heard you don't need an internet connection for it to work, just for the updates. And if you don't have an internet connection you can continue to use the software for up to 180 days. Not 100% sure on that though.

But yeah, I get where you're coming from.

oh well thats nice atleast ... i would not have updated anyway ... clearly the big improvement here is just cloud functionality that i already have and use for sharing files and connections
just a few new photo tools and improvements to their 3D system that is still piss poor (and it got all my hopes up being able to texture in photoshop for 3D stuff but its useless)

not to mention $20 a month for 5 years is like 5 grand ... thats like buying a new copy of CS6 extended every year

Yeah, the whole system is rather messed up. I honestly hope it doesn't last.

The thing has already crashed multiple times to.

I like the idea ... i think it will help a bit with piracy ... but i bet its going to piss off a whole lot of business owners and individuals
its a good idea and it would be good for some people as a SEPARATE PRODUCT but i learned that its a photoshop replacement .. as much as i like to think of myself as a free and liberal thinker open to new ideas .... i want my old PS back

I think it's going to piss off more individuals than business owners. Not that it won't piss them off to, but if you're a freelancer it's a lot harder to come up with that kind of money every month just to use the tools you need to make money in the first place.

Exactly, as a separate product it would be great, but a solitary one? Not so much.

Can I be honest?
It's a pile of shit. I'm glad more than ever that I bought CS5 Suite but I needed to buy Dreamweaver to upgrade it from the CS3 we were given in University.
Now I have to pay monthly for it? Absolutely pointless. They will see a HUGE increase in torrented software.
What about schools that close for months of the year - they will have to keep paying for the license despite it not being even switched on!!
Worst move ever Adobe, seriously.
I was considering treating myself to a Suite of CS6 for my new laptop, but now they can bugger off, I'll use my CS5 suite instead and continue using crappy CS3 dreamweaver.
So angry!! hahaha~

Yeah. I mean, I can understand where they're coming from and everything. With their previous business model they'd make huge chunks of money every time they released a new version and then nothing for the months in between and having your profits do a roller-coster like that doesn't look good, but they should be providing two options. Option A) Pay through a monthly rental and get immediate feature updates whenever they come out. Option B) Pay for the bundle of updates whenever you want to, rather than getting them all the second they come out.

I'm happy with my CS5 and Elements and what came with my tablet :). This just seems like it'd be a bad idea.

Yeah. I wouldn't mind it if we still had the option to just upgrade every six months to a year like we could before, but we don't.

I can understand why some people might want it, but the fact that they just dropped everything else is what confuses me. I really don't understand why they couldn't keep both systems in place with slight modifications to each.

Adobe will go down by the speed of their greed! IF they actually are going to pull this shit off.. I'm glad that I have not bought Adobe... I still have my old ass Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.0 & the Classroom in a book. Its the only thing I have + SAI.
I loved and worked in Adobe for 15+ years.. now with this shit not a smart idea :(

Yeah, I'm a little iffy on the whole thing as well. But I get the CC stuff free while I'm in school apparently so I'm going to download it and see where things go. Once it stops being stupid anyways. I tried to download it FROM THEIR SITE and the application manager told me I couldn't do it because I was trying to download a pirated copy apparently. My friend had the same problem.

BUT! I heard that they finally have better stabilization with brushes which is something I have been dying for.

Now, I can understand them giving this as an OPTION for people. If you want insta-updates on all the sparkly new features, cool. Have at 'em. But for the rest of us just stick with the bundle of updates every six months to a year.
