“I hate parties.”
“If you feel that way about them, why the hell did you come along?”, a voice said next to Sheryl.
She crossed her arms & scowled before loudly proclaiming, “Because if I didn’t, you guys would spend the entire week talking about how much of a buzzkill I am for not going.”
“Well, you’re being one right now.”, Sheryl’s friend countered.
“At least I’m being honest about how I feel instead of pretending to keep up appearances.”
Sheryl’s friend laughed. “Speaking of appearances, you should just go hang out with the slit-faced woman out in the park. I bet you guys would be great friends.”
Sheryl rolled her eyes at the thought. “Do you seriously believe that stuff?”
“Not really but…wouldn’t it be more fun to find out rather than stick around here?”
“Fine. I’ll go find your bogeyman.”
