How to Cut Simple Bangs

Another cosplay tutorial! I see a lot of people buying wigs and then just wearing them straight out of the bag with no styling. Wigs were meant to be styled--and it's fun to do, too! Even cosplays of characters like Hatsune Miku, who have that chunk of hair in the middle, should have a little trimming done. Seems like a lot of people are afraid to take scissors to a wig, so I'm here to help with that. :3 These are just some very basic and simple anime bangs that many characters have. If you're going to be cosplaying, especially female characters, trimming bangs is something you're going to have to practice and grow skilled with.
The photos for this one have been sitting in a random folder for months and I just today remembered that I intended to make it! How did I forget all summer? Failboat. But it's done now, just in time for me to find another way to procrastinate on studying...
Hope it can help someone out!

There is actually a way to make wefts from cut hair! I warn you, it's very messy and time-consuming, but it can be done. Here's the tutorial: www.cosplay.com/photo/1079221/

Hi! I just got a wig from Five wits, and I was planning on cutting some bangs into it. However, I was a bit confused when you talked about using your bottom lid as a reference point. The wig you cut seemed to end up just about at your eyebrows in the length. How would you determine where the bottom of the bangs would end up? Thanks.

As I said in the tutorial, I began with my lower eyelid as a point of reference, but my final point was my eyebrows. If you try to cut bangs that long to your final point right away, the weight can mess with the balance of the fibers over the blades of the scissors and you'll end up with choppy and uneven bangs. As for the length of the bangs, just go by the character. Most have bangs to their eyebrows, but some will have bangs above their eyebrows or halfway up their foreheads.
Hope that helps!

Well, wig hair can't get longer. So if the bangs are too short already, you don't really have options in the way of fixing it. If you just want to even them up, use very small vertical snips to slowly shorten the longer side. Touch up the ends with a razor comb or thinning shears once you're done if you're a novice.

This particular wig I got from an eBay store. So few sellers have this perfect tea-brown shade that I needed for Horo. I personally don't use Halloween/party store wigs, but I've seen other people work with them before. I just prefer wigs from sites like Arda and Epic Cosplay because they tend to be fuller and easier to work with.
