I finally got the chance to watch this movie, and yes, my (Japanese) mom did watch it with me.
I loved the soundtrack and loved the characters. Regarding the characters, one observation that I made is this: if one of the characters (e.g. Awkwafina's character, Go Peik Lin) were the only Asian characters in another movie, there would be complaints about their portrayal (i.e. the only Asian being portrayed as the comic relief in contrast to the white protagonist). However, there'd be no complaints of that nature concerning this movie. You know why? Because there's more than one Asian character in this movie--I mean, it's in the flippin' title, after all--and they each have distinct personalities. (Not gonna lie, I thought Michelle Yeoh stole the show with her portrayal of Eleanor Young.)
If you haven't seen this movie yet, I recommend you do so at the nearest opportunity.
