Super Mario Eyes

Holy crap it's Mario! I'm actually in the works of doing a Mario themed photo shoot with a photographer, so I'm testing out different designs. I don't think I'll be using this one though. It took way too long and the details are way too tiny. The model's eyes are tiny compared to my drag queen shaped eyes!

Ok, so we've got the coin counter, those hill things, the piranha plant, the ? box, a Goomba, step things with coins, Bullet Bill, an odd looking Mario in the tanooki suit (with wiggling tail), a mushroom, Koopa Troopa, Yoshi, the flag pole and finally the castle! Ahhh so many tiny little things. I'm quite proud of that Yoshi. Frig, that was grossly tiny.

On a side note, I need your help guys! I've dropped down to 6th place in the Makeupbee/Sugarpill contest. It would mean the world to me if you voted for me! [link] A "like" is a vote!

clarity of things surprise me! must have been difficult to make all the details and so I think it deserves the highest marks.
the 'originality ... well, yes it is quite original although I think other people have already thought of this ... but there are enough details that make it original!
The special surprise me!
as the technique well, I think it's ... I do not know!
impact: well gurdandolo makes me in a good mood! maybe it's because of the brightness and vivid colors!
you're a good artist and I think if you keep that you get to the top!
perhaps as Clio (one of my favorite make-up artist)
and even if you fail, at least sapprai to be a very talented artist!

This is one of the cutest things ever, it is so small and so hard to work on! The idea of joining the eyelids together is really cute and i must admit, the amount of effort you have put into these is simply unbelievable. I also love how the eyelashes and eyebrows play a part too in the picture.

Originality? ORIGINALITY? Lets be honest, all of your work is original.

Vision: Awesome. The shot itself is simply beautiful.

Technique: I have no idea what witchcraft you are using but it must be a good spell.

Impact: 5. 5555555. Its so bold and bright!

Let me just say WOW! This is truly amazing.
Vision: It's kind of squished, but overall epic. 4.5/5
Originality: It's very original to put it simply. I mean who would think to do mario on their eyelids? And its accurate right down to the bullet bill 5/5
Technique: Not much to say about this. If you messed up, its very hard to tell. Everything about your technique is flawless. 5/5
Impact: This blew my mind. My little cousin, who loves everything mario, went nuts. So a 5/5 here too.
I'd like to know what makeup did you use? This looks like something i might want to try

WOW! Just simply amazing!! I'm not a professional make up artist, or critiquer, so I can only say not that much in this critique. Well here are the things I can point out that amazed me:

1. How original is your idea! Nornally people draw mario on paper but who would of thought of drawing it on the eyelid of someones eyes!!!!

2. I love how you managed to squeeze in the coins x100 on the left corner of the eye. I sometimes forget its their when Im playing the game.

3. I love how you did the backgroud! Its soo realistic to me! (The sky is just amazing! it doesn't even look like makeup at all!)

Here's some things I think you can fix..... if its possible (As I said, Im not a professional makeup artist or do I use it often)

1. Can you make the thing to the top right of the rocket a little clearer? Because I cant make up what ever that is.

2. The blocks on the right eye with the mushroom on it can be done neater

1. How come the middle in between the eyes isn't coloured like the rest of it?

I enjoyed this artwork very much and I think its very awestrucking. I hope your hands aren't hurting anymore!

I'm not hating, but when you said "The blocks on the right eye with the mushroom on it can be done neater."
I can imagine that doing this with makeup is really hard especially doing this with your own eyes. I don't care about the mess ups. This tops anything I could ever do. There's very little space for so much detail and stuff to put in. I can pretty much imagine the frustration and how long this took. I didn't even notice the blocks looked like that until you mentioned it, but nonetheless I couldn't explain your review about this any better. ;)

Ohh I see. Yes I know what you mean, it must of took alot of work and I feel bad about saying stuff about improvement. As I said I don't work with make-up much so I don't know how much work it would be and how hard. ^^; But in the end I do agree with you on "I don't care about the mess ups. This tops anything I could ever do."

Thank you! :D

Top right? You mean the castle?

I normally don't do anything in the middle, I just keep it on my eyes. Putting the blocks in the middle was just a thought of tying the two eyes together.
animerocks629's avatar
No I mean the little blocks with the mushroom on it.

Ohhh I see ^^; Thx for explaining!!!! :D

as from teh artist comments:

"an odd looking Mario in the tanooki suit (with wiggling tail)"

That would be the tanooki suit, or raccoon suit as I always used to call it growing up. Where mario is dressed as a raccoon like critter and flies by swishing his tail. :)
animerocks629's avatar
Oh I see! I love the racoon Mario! It was soo much fun flying!!!!!
ArcaneMemories's avatar
indeed! It was my first mario game. Admittedly I had to squint to see this as well, but given that this was drawn on eyelids, i think it's very well done for the amount of detail you can put in such a small space.

Also to answer your question about why the middle wasn't colored, the artist likely (just my opinion) wanted to keep this as a decorative makeup and not simply a drawing on someone's face. If in between the eyes was colored with the ground and sky, I think it would look odd myself. This way it looks like a beautiful display of something familiar as make-up, but also artistic. Again, just my personal opinion and not the artists, but I do think it would look odd myself. :)
animerocks629's avatar
Yes, I know. The work was done soo beatifully!!!! I didn't really care about the mistakes but I put them down anyways for some reason..... ^^;

No, the artists already answered my question and it was similar to something you said :D

This is pretty amazing! It looks really good and the details are very concise! The only thing I have to say is 'Where's Mario'? Also what is that flying tiger looking thing? The gumba is a bit unclear to make out. And the turtles legs are a bit long, but other than those few things, AMAZING!!!!! Just WOW! Verry impressive!I look forward to seeing your "Mario Photo Shoot" soon! Fun Fact: Did you know Gumba is an insulting name Italians use so the Japanese made a nice joke out of that! Well the fun fact was to fill in some space but it is true! Okay thanks bye!

"Where's Mario and whats the Tiger-looking thing?"
He's there and it's raccoon Mario :) I do agree however that original Mario would have been nicer in this piece. Still amazing idea and it was done beautifully.
photoninja333's avatar
Agreed! I know see him! :)
KatieAlves's avatar
The flying tiger thing is Mario in the Tanooki suit! :D
photoninja333's avatar
Oh what is the Tanooki suit? I've never heard of that!?
KatieAlves's avatar
It's the little racoon looking suit that allows him to fly with his tail!
photoninja333's avatar
what game is that in?
i was so disappointed that they didn't know.... *sigh*...
