Scar by kathrynlayno Scar by kathrynlayno
"Kat here. I decided draw a villain this time. Scar is my favorite Lion King character. I drew nothing but Lion King when I was like in the 3rd or 4th grade so I kind of wanted to go back to it and see if I still got the chops (definitely more of an improvement lol). Lots of green for the jealous, evil genius that he is."

I'm excited that he appeared in The Lion Guard. Let's celebrate by doing a transcript.

Scar: Ha ha ha you fell for my trap brilliantly Lion Guard.

Kion: Your trap?

Scar: That's right and as soon as I'm done destroying you and your friends and especially your father I will be the ruler.

Kion: You'll never become the ruler Scar my friends and I will defeat you no matter what.

Scar: Oh no you don't your time is over Lion Guard now prepare to die.

Fuli: Not a chance Scar we will be here until the Pride Lands end.

Gotta say it, it will be hard not having Jeremy Irons as Scar again, but I'm excited to see what Chiwetel Ejiofor can do

I'm looking into getting a tattoo of Scar, and I'm wondering if I can use this piece to help explain to the artist how I want a semi-realistic version of him? The tattoo wouldn't have the same pose as this, (as I'm planning for a portrait) but I just love this as an example of the realism I'd like.

Because hamlet defeats his uncle as simba does scar. He acts the same way that the uncle did in hamlet and the uncle wasn't a very good villan either. I geuss I'm trying to  say that he didnt really have a chance to be a bad villan? I geuss my brain thought I was on to something for some reason....

Don't bash me for this, but even though Scar is a great villain. He really fail's as one. Why?

Geez Scar if you were so cunning and smart. You could've had the chance of being successful and just killed Simba the moment no one was around, when Mufasa was dead, but no you decide to let him run away -_-

AND before someone say's "Scar would have blood on him, there'd be evidence! Hurr hurr hurr." or something like that. You do know Scar could just choke Simba, thereby there wouldn't be any evidence he killed him. And Scar had another chance kill Simba near the end of the movie. He could've thrown Simba off the edge, but no what does he do? He reveal's to Simbat that he killed Mufasa.

Some great cunning mastermind you are Scar *sarcasm* -.-

I'm just saying what's true people.

Scar is not supposed to be a perfect mastermind, like some sort of comic book character chessmaster that knows and controls everything and everyone. He's supposed to be manipulative (which he was), menacing (which he was to a certain extent) and entertaining (which he sure as HELL was). Most villains have a plan in order to achieve their goals, which inevitably fails, usually before they succeed. USUALLY. Scar succeeded, if only for a short while. And yes, he could have killed Simba, but instead decided to let the hyenas deal with him. He was cocky and prideful, reasoning that giving him a short, painless death wasn't enough. So, he made a very young kid believe that he killed his own father, dooming him to a life time of guilt, if he didn't die in despair and misery as nothing more than another meal for the hyenas or another predator, thus completing "The Circle of Life". And yes, he revealed that he killed Mufasa, because he's a coward. Do you think he pushed Mufasa off a cliff for no reason? If he wasn't a coward, he'd face his brother in a straight up duel and claim his place fair and square. He wanted to hurt all those around him more than he wanted power over others.

All villains fail in the end. It's what they do before their downfall that matters. And Scar did a lot. He was smart, charismatic, ruthless and entertaining. So NO, he does not fail as a villain. If you look at him this way.

Sorry if I was hostile in any way, but as a nostalgia junkie that I am, I felt obligated to state this defensive argument. It's reasonable that Scar isn't exactly your cup of tea, it's all a matter of personal preference.

You'd think that it would've been easier to just kill Simba rather than have hyenas go after him? I mean he did have Simba in his arms, comforting him fakely, that was a great opptunity, but.....I suppose you have good points, it's just a movie after all.....

Well, you had your fair share of good points as well. At least I can argue Scar isn't THE most evil of all. Maleficent (I consider her as the Devil of Disney) and Judge Frollo (I just HATE his fucking guts! Sick, twisted bastard son of a bitch!).

Not to give some criticism, but what makes Maleficent sooooo evil? "Oh I wasn't invited a birthday party, so I shall place a curse on your daughter when she turns 16." Yep very evil.

Don't get me wrong, but Maleficent along with Scar are overrated, granted I do think Scar is more evil than her, I mean he did kill his own brother, you know his own flesh and blood in cold blood.....I'll give Scar promps for that, but Maleficent, the whole not being invited to a birthday party, thus should mean most evil character. Yeah, no.....

I'd say Frollo is definitely the most evil though.

Well, Maleficent was evil for the same reason Chernabog or Lucifer was evil: Just for the sake of being evil. She used hellish powers for nefarious reasons, just like the aforementioned examples. And I don't think it was just that party. Maybe she was overshadowed by her sisters...somehow...and the birthday party was just the moment she snapped. Yes, it sounds silly, ridiculous and simple, but it was effective. Besides, if transforming into a giant black dragon that spews green fire doesn't scream evil, then I don't know what does.

Frollo just bleeds darkness all over him! And the worst part? He's perfectly realistic! Sometimes humans can worse than demons...

Wow, the movies don't seem that smart when you grow up, huh?
