Rear and headstock veneers applied and trimmed, and I've gone around the edges with 150-grit to erase rasp marks.  I'll still need to hit the sides and belly carve with water to raise grain and knock it back down in 220- and 320-grit stages, plus 320-grit sanding on the veneer faces, before I can really consider staining.  I consider myself lucky that I was able to cover the headstock with scraps this time.  I'd over-trimmed the first sheets, and feared I'd need to use one of the two remaining whole sheets I have left.  I'd prefer to use those on a one-sided veneer project instead.
