Description
I don't normally use a 'sanding sealer' step, since if I do it after staining there are high odds of sanding off the stain, and if I do it before then the stain won't penetrate the same. For this natural finish on a very soft, porous body-wood, though, it was prime. I crushed some of the shellac flakes from that bag, mixed them with denatured alcohol, and brushed on one coat of the resulting honey-colored liquid all over, including inside the neck pocket and electronics route. That coat was a little rough, but after sanding with 320-grit it's ready for finishing oil.
