Here's the middle of the process, where I let the maple and mahogany absorb a bit more of the already 'dried to tacky' gilding adhesive.  After I peel the tape and correct any spots where the gilding came off too, a quick coat of Mod Podge will finalize things and prevent the faux-gold from corroding.
