Description
I'd been wondering if I'd need to inlay an opal into the headstock of this build since it's been going so relatively well, but this mockup build killed that idea. One of the rules for my 'opal series' guitars is an arbitrary limit of one major flaw, and this step exposed the off-center bridge posts to add to the neck heel gap I already caused myself, so that's two. As visible through the control holes, I've copper-taped the electronics bay, but with the complications of a traditional LP control route (the diagonal, square-bottomed slice in the mahogany before the cap is added) I'll leave the switch and pickup bays as-is. That route as it crosses the pickups makes the shape more challenging to cover than I want to tackle, and the switch bay is just too small to shield without risking a short if any part of the switch or wire ends touches copper. I'll be ordering the rest of the parts two days from this post.
