I forced the flash on this pic to better show the small areas of chatoyance in the alder body. There was actually a brief ripple of flame grain on the front where the veneer covered it up, while back here we have a shadow toward the middle of the left piece that shifts with the light, and a more birdseye-like ripple at the center of the belly carve's left edge. Decent enough. After this one coat of oil, though, everything's going on hold 'til either payday or the sale of my acoustic, currently listed on FB and CL. The main finish will be glossy lacquer, and I only have satin and no thinner to clean brushes with.
