Description
I now suspect that the previous owner of this vintage pickguard (80's DiMarzio products all around) had a short circuit, where the right lug of the middle tone pot (the bottom knob, and wired opposite my own way so that lug had the hot connection for the middle pup) was touching whatever shielding the previous guitar had. It came with the note that the middle pickup didn't work at all, but I did the 'tap test' with a screwdriver and my headphone amp, before lining the wood with copper, and everything was fine (except for the old switch's stiffness, but it still works). That explains the masking tape I've wrapped around the tone pots, to prevent a repeat situation. I still need to adjust the neck pocket to fit the neck, but after that it'll be a matter of basic assembly.
