Description

Here's a step I rarely bother with, using naphtha to both preview the grain and check for glue spots.  This body is remarkably clean, with only a couple little glue spots on the side wood around the bass-side horn where it's trickiest to work.  The grain here is pretty, but I suspect won't be very 'lively,' as in only minimally chatoyant, given how low-visibility it is on the dry wood.  This particular 'kit' is just a body/neck combo ordered from China, and as clean as it is there are already a few problems I'll need to fix.  Neither the bridge nor tailpiece holes are drilled big enough, and the latter aren't deep enough either.  The output jack hole is missing entirely.  I think those F-holes are just a bit off the standard profile, and as they are I can't fit full-sized pots through them so I had to order another wiring harness with smaller pots.  To top it all off, I don't even have the neck yet, which was apparently shipped separately.  Tracking estimates it will get here next Monday (today is Thursday), having been rerouted through the midwest for some reason.

You could put a floating guitar bridge with a tail piece on, like the one on my Martin F50.  Not that I know that much about making a guitar.
