My son turns 31 this year and my daughter 30... Feels like so short ago that I first held them in my arms!

My son is 9 in october... they're both amazing kids in their own sweet ways! I sometimes feel I should have had them when I was younger as they tire me out!

I was in my early twenties... Full of energy, hardly knew I had kids energy-wise! But on the other hand I sometimes think I should have waited. Wisdom comes with the years;) I think when I am 80 I may  be really ready for motherhood ;)
What I dó see around me is that parents make a lot of fuss about their children, always adapting to théir needs, as if the world turnssolely around the children. And that tires out many parents, I think, it would me! ;) When I raised my kids they sort of joined in into our life, much more give and take, I feel. Maybe parenthood today is too much teamed up with feeling guilty: for having to work, for being tired, for not being ready at all times to engage in anything your child may want attention-wise. That's what the magazines tell you to feel and the telly and your peer-parents, it seems. While children really can be quite relaxed in their attitude once they have learned the important lesson that they are not the only important thing here on earth. A good lesson for the rest of their lives!
OMG I sound like cinderella's stepmother... I am not ;)

Everything you say rings true. I was in my late 30s and do not really have the necessary energy nor the grandparents on hand to help. And I think we spoil them, we revolve around their every need! Well feels like that sometimes. I do not work, I tried but my son's autism fried that idea! :D

Party done, school fair done, and the elderly parents are having a siesta!! ;)

LOL Happy siesta, Kate! ;)
And over the parenting thing: I didn't work until my youngest went to school (you could simply choose that then, big privilege, one salary was still enough to live on) and I so feel for mother's who can't do the same while they'd want to. You hád to make that choice and that's different I think. Being a 'housewife and mom' has it's pro's and cons and one of the cons is that after some time I felt that 'mommy' was all I was... brrr very scary! So I took up some serious hobbies :} and sent daddy out with the kids every sunday!
And to tell you the truth: I really, REALLY,  mustn't think to be a mother to teenage children (let alone even younger) now! I really wouldn't know where to get the energy ;)

Ok done with this: enjoy your siesta :beach:  ;)

Bring a houseperson is underrated... it always will be! It's taken me 2 years to accept I wasn't magically going to go back to my high falutin' career stuff. :D Now I realise what opportunities I have to try my hand at different things. Like Fractals! :D My capacity for hobbies is growing as I am starting to see that there is so much out there to try my hand at.

And what siesta - put my feet up for ten mintues and they want... want want!  :D

And of course, on closer inspection, you will probably find that I am just someone of my generation, thinking we knew/know best  Of course we do!
