Yugioh Pumpkin by Katalalyn Yugioh Pumpkin by Katalalyn
So a couple years back the kids in the neighborhood were really into YuGiOh. I decided I would give them an extra treat for Halloween. I had tons of kids just standing around my doorstep admiring my pumpkin, so much so I had to move it so people comming to the door for candy could get by

Yeah, I noticed your love for it when I went on your page. The back story for it was pretty interesting, I must admit, I just couldn't sit through all the other stuff.

If they redid it, seriously, and made it a bit more mature, which I heard the manga was, I think it would garner an even greater audience.

well it depends on a lot oh which version u watched. if u just watched the dub version yeah i understand what u r talking about because i myself is absolutely surprised by the HUGE changes godman 4 kids did to the entire series.

two of my fav examples is the yami/yugi relationship and yami/kaiba relationship.

the pharaoh NEVER told his companion about regaining his memories, yugi found out for himself. bothe of them are really aware of yugi's dependance on him so yami usually hides his concerns from yugi.
on tea's date she says that yugi is really worried about him since he has been sad for quitesometime.
so he answers: he is worried about me? he cant even tell the person he likes...
so their relationship isnt that sunshine and lolipops after all, including those eps with dartz in which it hasa deeper meaning. the pharaoh is scared and is sad he doesnt know who he is or if is truelly evil so he goes: i dont have anything, this body everyting doesnt belong to me i dont exist in thisworld anymore...

yami/kaiba well i'm sorry if I scared u with this one lol as u might have seen i'm pretty obssessed with these twolol.

kaiba is a person whose entire life he believed life was like a game in which if u lose u die then yami came in to the picture and thrown his way of looking to the world outta the window. he relied a lot on power yet yami defeated him with very unlikey strategies and weak monsters. he is trying to fight over all of his traumas and is trying to defeat the memory of his stepfather ( manga refernce he was forced to use a dog collar and was whipped several times if he didnt accomplish the tasks that were dealt upon him), he actually respects yami beyond anything but he sees him as an obstacle to move forward from his past, the whole battle city tournament was for that so he could bury his past and go on but in his fight with the pharaoh, yami tells him that he's really disappointed in him since he couldnt hope for a future that was built on hatred and if he wanted to truelly have one he should find a better way to build one.

lol i'm sorry i rambled XD but if u give it an opportunity u might like it but it has to be the original japanese version. because even marik's true intentions are different form the 4 kids one , but this is to long alread yif u read it all i'm absolutely thankful and if not i quite get it XD i talk a LOT

I did read it all.

Also, I have watched some of the anime, both the English dubbed edited crap version and the original. I also read some of the manga, though not a lot. What I meant by done more seriously is that they focus heavily on the battles instead of the story. I think the story behind it is very interesting and on its own makes a good impression but with all the focus on the battles it sort of just reminds me of Pokemon or Bayblade. I wish they did MORE with the story and less with the stupid cards.

ohhh now i see, i dont know but i think it's just kazuki's way giving examples through battles asi fu sing metaphors. I do enjoy watching the battles because by heart i'm a gaqmer and i do love trying to guess the next move, i love trying to decipher strategies but there are also fans that as u say and u r like more of the sicological and background development which i might say even though i loved it with all my heart it desatisfied me a lot especially when they reached the memory's arc. I was hoping for a btter and deeper explanation on the pharaoh's past and not just the game they played in whcih u cant tell which is true and which things and events arent real.

I agree with u on that lol.

I never got into the card games much after Magic and even that I wasn't into so much that I cared when I stopped playing it. I am a gamer as well, though mostly pc and console, though I don't mind a good round of tabletop, but I found the games so distracting. I get that the point of the series is mostly about that, but they spend so much time on the gaming itself that they lose a good amount of opportunity to develop some of the characters more, at least from what I saw of it, I never finished the whole series as the battles just got tiresome and redundant in my mind. Sort of like the billion episodes of Dragonball Z that dealt with nothing but them standing around going AAAAAAAAAAH and having their hair turn yellow, it just slows down the pace too much for me.

My attempts at carving a pumpkin were laughable at best, so I'm in awe at someone who can carve an actual Yugi-oh into a pumpkin - tis very cool =D

Well to be honest, thats only like the 2nd pumpkin I've ever carved in my life, my parents never did halloween stuff, so I only started later in life, the one thing is not to treat a pumpkin like a pumpkin, but more like a piece of wood, to go slow and to only take small pieces out, using a more of a shaving technique vs the cutting one most people are shown as kids. Its time consuming, but fun all the same.

Mostly it was just trial and error from the year before when I did the carving of the cat from Trigun. I actually pierced that piece, because I was trying to cut, and not carve, when I started treating the pumpkin like I would carvin into wood, it was a bit easier in some sense, the pumpkin gives more, so you have to remember that. But on a whole, you only take small pieces when you carve in wood, and to make a more delicate design in a pumpkin, its the same concept. Small pieces, lots of patience, and a class of vanilla coke.

I love vanilla coke, I was so sad when they stopped making it for awhile. Then I was at the theater and they had a prepreview commerical all about vanilla coke comming back. My husband and I left the theater and the first thing I did was go to the groccery store. heh.
