This is my entry for the Anime Next 2010 Artist Alley Badges contest! I wanted to portray the "artists in the alley". I don't qualify as a pseudo-asian girl in a skirt, but that's who I'd be... haha!

The near part is... I won! It's very exciting~ ♥

But please, check out the other entrants too @ [link] there are some lovely works done!

Please keep your comments about the illustration.

Congratulations again! :D I love this design and I can't wait to get my badge to see the print version! Great textures and all the little details on their clothes are awesome. Really nice work, especially with capturing the artist alley theme ( of course foregoing all of the stress mentioned above. :XD: ) See you in the alley! ^_^

Still gotta say congrats on winning the badge contest! VERY much deserved! I think your entry was the closest to actually representing the artists in the artist alley ( well, minus the gallons of coffee and lack of sleep. XP ).

Are you going to the networking party that Friday evening?

Thankyee again darlin'~
although seriously, I really thought that doing a more "official" one would be them in t-shirts, bags under their eyes, shoes untied, and malnourished... heheheh!
Hmm... I'm considering it, but I have my sister with me and we drive there... not sure how tired we'll be, also. I'd have to see at that point and time I think~

Hm, very true. It would be like a photo of ANY of us the month before convention time... stressed all to hell, WAY too many deadlines from hell, screaming at our printers, screaming at our suppliers, dreaming of the invention of a coffee IV drip, locking the doors so no one can disturb us while we're trying to meet said deadlines from hell, crying when we run out of a certain color marker and NONE of the nearby art stores carry it, crying even harder when you find out that the material you were using for a commission that you're in the middle of working on is no longer being made because it is considered to be "antiquated" ( damn duoshade board developers! ), etc etc etc. Did I miss anything? X3

Totally understandable!

I just REALLY hope that the rain that is supposed to happen that weekend isn't as bad as last year. This is what the Farmers Almanac for June shows: [link]

hahahahahahah! Everything you just stated is totally true... And duoshade is really out?! ohgod... I don't stick to one type of product yet... for inking I still quite enjoy cardstock. ♥

And I'm actually relaxing my schedule a bit by taking some of my prints to Staples to have printed... I'm not sure how my profit-to-ink-cost ratio is with printing @ home against doing it then, but godamn it's far more convenient! hehehehe...

Coffee IV drip? I'd donate money for that.

I'm so happy I'm not the only nerd that looks at the Farmer's Almanac... hahaha! I noticed that too the other day, but you know - rain means people'll stay indoors... and hopefully they'll be in our area of the convention then! ohohohoho... but I went to the main convention hall from the Double Tree hotel last year - and there's a covered canopy. So it's not that bad. But alas, I do like rain myself... makes them hot summer days far more bearable!

How are you on preparations? You have a full table this year, too, right?

Yeah, I do have a full table, but I'm sharing half of it with :iconanimegirl000: again. She has an over head pipe display ( new one, and it's much more secure than last years set up ), and I purchased a box of storage grid cubes ( BIG! Oo ), so we can get everything off of the table to make more room for working on commissions and such.

I just have to make my display frame for my keychains and phone charms, get one of my paintings matted and framed, and get ALL of my new prints, stickers and charms printed. And get a new banner made at Staples. XP

So I'm about 60% ready.

Oh, I live by the Farmers Almanac! My grandfather got me stuck on the yearly books yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeears ago, and I use the website now when I can, so long as it's two months before the month I need to know about.

ooh! I think I remember her! Hhehehe~ She's a great artist.
UGH, if there is one thing I needed to do - it's collect cards of the artists I liked in the alley! Hahaha... maybe I *should* attend the after-hours party... do you think my sister would be able to come too?

yowza! You sound like you are much farther than 60%! I'd say about 80%~ hahaha... I'm about at the 40% mark.. I only got five prints done of my planned ten... and sticker illustration, OH GOD all of the sticker illustrations...
This weekend is my GRIND weekend. Workworkworkworkwork! hehehehe.

Ooh! Are they the cubes from Walmart/Target? I got some too... they're really awesome. I'm totally going to be using these outside the con season, also! I need far more storage...

I use the almanac for gardening... I'm a huge gardening geek, ahhaah!

Is she your helper? Inyx mentions in the forums that the party is for both the artists AND their helpers, so if your sister is your helper, then yes.

Guuuuuh... I'm not looking forward to having to feed my printer sheet by sheet for all of the prints, stickers and charms. Baking the charms, then sealing both charms and the stickers. Next year, I plan on using QueenofDorks husbands acrylic charm making company for my flat toned charms ( they also do prints and stationary and stickers ). It'll help cut some of the headaches. XP

The thing that's killing me right now is that not only do I have con prep to finish, the two commissions I'm working on right now... are probably the most DIFFICULT pieces I've done in a while. AT THE SAME TIME. They just fell at the same time on my wait list. One is hiiiiiiiiiiighly detailed, and the other... the customer... making me want to crack my head against the desk... repeatedly.

YEP! They're the cubes from Target! Walmart around here doesn't carry them in stores when it isn't the beginning of a school year, and they're more expensive at Wally World anyway. So Target was the best place to grab them.

kawsome, we'll definitely try to attend then!

hahahahah! Goodness I bet that's insane... This year is my first in doing stickers n' such... so I'll be able to feel the same pain! hahahah! What is this Acrylic thing? Is that Printess.com? I saw that, I want to try them out soooooo bad... they're not bad price-wise! I wonder how long it takes...

Ugh, complicated commissions are always a fun thing to get... right? hahahah! Those that rack my brain are always the worst... especially if I'm not in the mood to go over too many details [relaying during commissions is one of the most time-consuming things... GUH.] and... complicated commissioneers aren't good either. /hugs
Hopefully you get through them quickly!

haaa! I adore them - thank goodness they are inexpensive too! I was about to go out and make a crazy PVC pipe display... put my Glue-and-Wire-Workshop skills to use! But alas, these are much easier.

Congratulations! :D That's so awesome. Now I wish I was going to see it in use. X3 It's colorful and eye-catching, as well as well drawn, so it is obvious why it's a winner.
