Remembering January by KariAnnLax Remembering January by KariAnnLax
** Tons of love and thanks to ^allhopeislost for suggesting this image for a Daily Deviation and to ^WilderWein77 for featuring it.

Thanks to all of you who have expressed your appreciation for this piece as well. :thanks:

----------------------------------
This is a piece that is recognizing and remembering a man that I never met but have heard a lot about. Someone who traveled more than most while fighting his demons along the way. The flaws and rips are there intentionally.

Not my typical style and a bit challenging to my brain as well as very dear to my heart.

Daily Deviation

Given 2007-11-08
This is one of those pieces that conveys such stripped emotion that everyone can appreciate it from merely a look. Remembering January by ^FallenRox incites the things that people would want to see in great art: mystery, imagination, evocation, color, texture, composition, and a true touch of human nature. Thank you! It's my all time favorite ever- bar none. Would have a canvas print made of it and hang it here but living in an "A" frame style house SUCKS for hanging art. lol

Looking at this picture, even before I read what it was about, made me want to cry with a deep sorrow mixed with joy having known the person in it.

JonMWells introduced me to your page, and I'm glad he did. Beautiful work.

You know, I haven't visited my comments much or even gone through much of my art lately but someone is interested in buying this piece and I was having a look at it.

I love Mr. Wells, even if we don't speak for long lengths of time and I'm certainly glad that he shared my work with you and you were moved by it. Turns out that I'm marrying the "man" in this image- so know that it all has a happy ending ;)

Hope you're having a terrific day because you certainly made me smile.

Man, so much texture! It literally pops off the screen. Is that a crossroad? Love that. :)

I have a serious fascination with textures. Hence one of my other accounts
that I share with my fiance- =darkiTexture... We just can't get enough :)

Thanks for the compliment, and yes... a definite crossroad.

Appreciate the comment on my work!

My pleasure!! I checked out the link. That's so cool that you let people use the textures!

As for the crossroad, I'm taking the lefthand road. It looks less traveled and filled with more surprises! :)

I've been meaning to check this out a lot earlier. Sorry I'm so late.

I feel sad yet hopeful for the man walking down that long empty road that seems to have no end in sight. Looks like he's lugging around what could be his entire belongings. I like the crossroads sign you put in there too. "January" to the right, which would seem to me that fate is actually telling him to take that path. The road and the view are wide open which would say to me there are so many possibilities down that road. The "Lost" path really looks just like that, lost. It's narrow, dark and dirty, and seems to lead into a thickness of trees. Who knows what's on the other side of that. I'd rather hit the open road, much like your character. The scribbles, rips and tears, as well as the dark colors make this look almost like a photo that he may have had crumpled in his back pocket for the entirety of his journey. Perhaps a stranger took it and gave it to him as a remembrance token. That's just my interpretation of this lovely piece. The DD was definitely very well deserved.

Truly? Well then, I'm pleased. I like looking at art that leaves room for interpretation, or that tells a story. Your pieces are great for that. :)

I like the rips, wrinkles and broken bits. They remind me of letters or handwritten song lyrics, carried around forever in pockets and bags until they become imbued with luck and experience.

Just glance at its thumbnail, and I could tell this was going into my favorites.
Why, I didn't even bother fullviewing it until I pressed the favorite button.

Seriously, I just can't say what I like about this, it'd take too many unnecessary words.
