Today I found my artwork entitled WORLD OF SLEEPERS as DD. Wow! I think but....It was my artwork but someone steal it and upload as his :/ and received DD for it. I was so angry. Tell me what should I do? Put watermark on each work or something....I'm helpless, angry and sad because of this situation :(

A while back, someone put up pictures of famous metalwork by Edgar Brandt on a page here and claimed they were their work, and one got a DD. Several of us reported it and the person was removed. I don't know what the current reporting method is, though I see a "report deviation" button in the picture information column that I would try. Anyway, I would hate to see your work disfigured by watermarks, though since you do photomanipulations, maybe you could use digital watermarking.

Perhaps along the circumference of the rim or along the steps you could create an embossed text that looks like it belongs as part of the image, but is actually part of your signature, identifying the artist who created it.

Btw, this piece is so good.

i hate to say it, but only a huge pos watermark stops most thieves. sucks for the rest of us, and hurts your own feelings every time you have to do it, as it reopens that scar... the alternative method would be to offer to email the pic to registered or recorded users so you'd have a list of people with access to the unmarked print. that sucks too, because none of this [regulation, theft, assholery, need for marking] was why da was started to begin with. you got my sympathy and then some , man.

Terrific piece, I think this one in particular was overshadowed by the news of the art theft. Thankfully that incident was resolved, but this artwork deserves more. The texture work is incredible, as usual I don't know where real life ends and photomanipulation begins.

First rate job.

:o I'm sorry to hear someone stole your work :(
It's an amazing piece!
I guess you could put your name in the corner or your DA url or something
I hope it does't happen again

Beautiful again..

I don't like the watermark neither... it ruins a lot.
It is just easy to ask permission...nothing wrong with that. For me..I don't care..take what you want, I always can prove that I made it on what time..What the others do with afterwards, I don't care.. working on new things already.. ;)

Unfortunately there will always be theft,no matter what.
But those that know and love your work will always seek out your art from your own site or homepage here. It is of course a travesty that your piece was stolen ,then got a DD. Deviant Art should be better at keeping this from happening, and the perpetrator should be immediately removed from this community.Watermarks are a pain in the ass and don't even work that well.My own view is,you do what you can to protect your art and your rights to it,but don't waste too much of your precious energy defending what is yours,it will deplete you. Better to take that energy and make another awesome artwork...
Let the joy of creation be your ultimate reward.Anything after that is just icing on the cake...Remember,YOU are the one that is blessed with the true and rare talent, the thieves are just wannabees... They can never touch you.

Thank you all for comments and advice. I need to think about it cause truth is that each small and gentle watermark can be removed in graphic programs :(

watermark! or embeded text in the image. a pitty for the viewers, but you are safer.
