I have published a book about the Finnish underworld, illustrated by @TeroPorthan
The Finnish Book of the Dead: Gods, Spirits and Creatures of the Underworld in Finnish Mythology and Folklore available on Amazon
First ever illustrated guide to Tuonela, the land of the dead in Finnish mythology.
Discover who is who in the Finnish underworld. Learn about the Finnish afterlife: where do the dead go, who are the gods and goddesses of death, which animals are related to death, what kind of creatures live in the underworld.
Read about Finnish grim reapers, corpse brides and journeys to the underworld. Learn about the dead rising to haunt houses and the restless dead who abandon the underworld to live among the living.
Based on ancient poems, spells and songs, this book offers an overview of the underworld of this northern country with its age-old traditions. The book contains poem excerpts, many of them for the first time translated from Finnish into English.
