For the windows users out there that watch me or stop by occasionally that don't subscribe to windows update (for whatever reason) there are two hyper important updates that you need to be made aware. Both constitute an "in the wild" meaning in use NOW on the internet, attack vector for the stuxnet derivative Duqu. Of course if you'd like to make your hardware  a nature reserve for competing bot-nets, malware factories ad-infinitum then go ahead and ignore this.

Find out the exact type of operating system you currently use (most people think this would be second nature but you'd be surprised at how many people just say "Windows" not knowing what model)

Then the two magic numbers to Google are KB972270 followed by your newly found out model and the word download and similarly KB982132 following the same procedure.

Here's those numbers again for people like me with zero day short term memory

If you are wondering the KB in this case is not kilo bytes but knowledge base, as in the database of known windows bugs.

Both fixes come to less than a megabyte each and take literally seconds to install. On the second one KB982132 I had to restart my computer so make sure that you aren't in the middle of a forty hour render when you install it.

Best of luck and here's hoping none of you unpatched people are infected already.

There's a lot of evidence that the Duqu worm was written by the same jerkasses behind Stuxnet (which hit every unpatched/unprotected Siemens SCADA system in the known universe).

What I find interesting is that it seems to transmit data mostly on Wednesdays... very odd... ah well

Thanks so much for the heads up!!! Forwarding this to all my friends as soon as I install it myself.

On another note, I'll be offline the rest of the week. Going on holiday for a bit. Things are a wee bit stressful here atm. Please give everyone my love :)

I got a site that gave me a download to ReimageRepair and now I have to pay for the service.
