The Dagger

Short Summary

Pyro finds a strange Dagger in Flareum library where he works at. He has high suspicions that the dagger is from another kingdom, and so he goes to Derya, who's known for swimming out to faraway places, so she must know where the dagger is from. And Derya takes a look at the dagger and concludes that it is indeed from another kingdom. This makes Pyro happy, but she warns him that he has to keep this to himself and to not draw any unwanted attention.

Long Story

( A little heads up, it been a while since I've written short stories, so the text will look "rusty" )

Derya's eyes inspected the sharp object she was holding. The object was a dagger that Pyro had brought to her. While she was looking at the dagger, Pyro sat in front of her, looking around his surroundings, and looking at the life forms that lived in the sea. Some were far while others were close. When he entered the building for the first time, he was surprised to learn that it wasn't glass that kept the water from overflowing the underwater building, but it was some sort of magical water tech that he didn't know existed.

" This dagger is indeed from another kingdom. " Derya said catching Pyro off guard.

" I knew it! " Pyro said in a joyful tone, " But how did you know? " Pyro asked her.

" The Aura of course " She answered

" The what? " He said not knowing what she meant by that.

Seeing the confused look on Pyro, Derya had forgotten that not all elementals have the ability to see Auras like her, so she answered him again, " Oh, sorry, what I mean is that there's a certain aura around this Dagger that only I can see. " She told him.

" Ohhhhh, okay. But what kingdom is it from? " Pyro replied.

Derya looked at the dagger again, seeing its dark purple aura, " Well from the coloration of the aura, which is dark purple, I say that it's from the Dark Kingdom " She told him.

" The Dark kingdom?! " Pyro said with a surprised look. " Wait! So there are other kingdoms out there?! How come we have never seen them?"

Derya looked at him for a moment before saying, " Well...the other kingdoms like to keep to themselves...Plus they are located further away from the middle kingdoms. And the middle kingdoms don't even know that the other elemental kingdoms exist. "

" Oh. " Pyro said looking at the ground, but then he got curious and asked " Have you been to the other kingdoms? You seem to be the only one that knows they exist. " He asked.

" Yes, I've been to Metal, Ice, and Dark kingdoms. I also collected some souvenirs while I was there. " She told him.

" So since you've been there and seen them, then that means you can help me prove to the others that I'm not crazy for believing in the existence of other elemental kingdoms!" Pyro said, now fired up in excitement.

Derya looked at him, she didn't look excited as him, instead, she looked unsure. Pyro noticed this and knew instantly what she was going to say.

" I'm sorry, I can't help you. I wish I could, but you know how the high-ranked individuals of each middle kingdoms think of hybrids. They won't listen to us, no matter what we say. To them we are impure. " Derya said

" I understand. " Pyro said. She was right, Hybrids are looked down on by the high ranks, because of their belief that a person must be 100% one element and no more. Pyro then quickly changed the subject, " So, about the dagger? You said it was from the Dark Kingdom. "

" Oh yeah, about that, I'm curious about where you got it from. " Derya asked

" I found it in Flareum library,  I think it was in the hall of artifacts, the unknown items section, I think. " Pyro answered.

" Do you know how the library got it?" Derya asked again, curious on how a dagger ended up in a library.

" From what I heard, it was found about 70 years ago, apparently a fire elemental decided to go to the beach and happened to encounter someone. The person had wings, and lucky for the fire elemental it flew away, but it ended up dropping the dagger, and the fire person took it to the library in hopes of finding out who the mysterious winged person was. And that's about it. " Pyro said.

" Interesting. Though you have to keep this to yourself. You might get unwanted attention or be called a weirdo.  " Derya said.

" I know. I won't tell anyone. " Pyro said, looking a bit sad.
