After reading IDW Sonic issue 2, I'm officially taking back every bad thing I've said about Ian Flynn. The way he wrote Amy and her dynamic with Sonic... WHY COULDN'T WE HAVE THIS IN THE GAMES?! AND LITERALLY EVERY OTHER MEDIA?! IT'S SO GOOD! Seriously, I always have an issue with how Amy and her interactions with Sonic are written, but this has become a complete exception lol

Uh...you're being hyperbolic, right?

I guess? 😅 I still have some criticism against Ian's writing in the past and such, I just feel that he did a truly excellent job here lol

Well, it was a good moment without being an outright shiptease, so...yeah. I applaud it. Hell, I was actually surprised that SEGA would let them go that far.

Indeed! Here's hoping THIS becomes the "status quo" for Amy instead of Boom!Amy. I know I rag on it all the time like it's the worst thing ever, which obviously isn't true, but Boom!Amy just isn't the right direction for Amy's character, despite what most say. This has the capability while not sacrificing her affection and flirting with Sonic

Plus, Boom!Amy would often act like a sterotypical SJW.

Honestly, I think like IDW!Amy more than Boom!Amy.

I feel like those two got more meaningful interactions in this issue alone than in most of the Archie comics.

Indeed 😒 It's most telling that even in the Post-Reboot issues, Amy ended up spending more time and getting more interactions with everyone else ASIDE from Sonic! Granted, I'm more than willing to accept this in regards to Cream, since she and Amy are supposed to be partners. But Sally? *Knuckles* of all characters? Focus should've been placed on repairing Amy's relationship with certain characters first instead of establishing new ones. Ian did a decent job with her and Cream but Amy with Sonic was still lacking no thanks to that chipmunk, which made the adventure with Knuckles all the more irritating

Well, at least this issue DEFINITELY makes up for that arc by having Amy adventure with Sonic before anyone else and really fixing up their dynamic!

Agreed. I'm curious about what Ian will do with Cream. He seems aware of how frustrated some of us were with how she was used post-reboot and given the mandates; he'll have to make some quick maneuvers around the rules. The best thing I can think of is having Cream act as the support (both mentally and physically). Maybe he and SEGA can come to a compromise with Cream.

Yeah. I'm honestly fearful that Cream will either be in a similar or even worse position than she was in Post-Reboot Archie, being present in the cast but not even getting to do support work. But then, Ian did a spectacular job with Amy and her dynamic with Sonic, so hopefully he'll manage a compromise. Ideally, though, we need SEGA to drop that stupid mandate they have for Cream completely so she can for certain be shown capable
