I never was good at making friends. Looking back, I didn't have any real friends to begin with. My mother was always encouraging me to make friends, but I really only made distant acquaintances. None of them legitimately liked me. They all just kept me around to use as a verbal punching bag, or for the occasional laugh. Part of the reason that this abuse never stopped was because I didn't really do anything about it. Sure I told my parents, but in the end, they would always send me straight back to my tormenters to the never ending chant, "Go on and play with your friends."
