Petals were thrown in the air as the initiates walked in front of the cheering crowd from the tight hugs of their families. It was always a day of mixed emotions. On one hand, it's a great honour and joy to be accepted into the druids. Yet, these were also the last moments the families would spend together for the next two years. The initiates would wander deep into the sacred woods to earn the title of a druid. This journey starts with The Cleansing, a ritual where the impurities of a person are washed away.
This week I've been trying to improve my lines. Specifically how to get more out of them through line weight and width. Secondary goal was to get more confidence in using more interesting angles and "lenses". Great reference for all this has been Even Amundsen's work. Clear and detailed, and definitely not stiff!
The categories for reference and imagination are bit mixed this week, as I was taking and inventing stuff quite bit in each one. But they are somewhat in their right slots.
This week I tried to do some more challenging expressions, which led to me painting the Turquoise Earrings painting as well. Definitely something to do more of to get myself more confident with it.
Also did some architectural studies, as my mind library is lacking in that department. With those I also tried to focus more on the line quality and weigh, something I want to improve a lot in the coming weeks.
And lastly, somewhat of a comfort zone, but educational nonetheless. Helmet designs from bronze age (mainly).
