I felt like doing one more gift to an online entertainer, giving away my huge Mega Man to Maximillian and the gang over on twitch at Maximilian_DOOD and the Yo! Videogame crew.  Had a great time on his channel and felt like just the littlest I could offer.  His wife does perler beads, more normal sized ones, so when I can wow someone that knows what these really are and probably made some himself at some point, it makes me feel good.

It's funny but after all these years, I've only just realised that in my head, I've been thinking your name was 'kamikazegeek'! Only just realised it's not! :-p

Hi there! I'm just starting with Perlers and I wanted to say -- your work is absolutely STUNNING. I hope so much that I can learn to make beautiful pieces like yours someday :)

I was wondering if I could ask a quick question, though -- do you have any tips for ironing larger pieces? The most I've done right now is around 4500 beads, and I've found it's a lot harder to get an even melt than it is with my smaller pieces. Any advice would be very, very appreciated! Thanks so much :)

I can't say I'm the best at consistently even melts for large projects, it's tough to do when the edges will always melt faster than the inside sections.  The more beads, the longer it takes.  It's just about being aware of how far things are in melting, because even if you melt down the edges right, you'll still be heating over them as you go in just to make sure everything stays warm so the bend doesn't happen too quickly.  You want to be regularly moving to new areas just as you are about finished with the current stuff to keep the heat consistent.

To help with larger projects that have curling happen as you go over, I use old cutting boards I kept that have a little weight to them and then just lay those over finished sections.  It helps keep things somewhat flattened as you go along, since when you get into anything close to a foot in length, by the time you get to the end, that first half is already fairly cool.

I can't offer any help if you iron both sides though.  I generally prefer the bead look, so I only iron one side.  That's way easier than trying to deal with a double sided flat fuse as I only do that on really tiny pieces lol

Oh god, ironing both sides will be the death of me hahaha. I'm pretty sure I'll only be doing one side for larger pieces too -- I think the look of the plain beads looks nicer on the big ones anyway. I'll be staying away from double-sided unless I have to for keychains and such :P

Thanks so much for the help! I really appreciate it :) Again, I love your work. I may be trying a few of your patterns too for decorating my room, if that's okay! :O
