Over the past couple of days, the wrestling world has been talking about the passing of William Moody, better known to the industry as Percy Pringle and even better known in said industry as Paul Bearer. I think people have already said a great deal about Moody's impact on the business and how he has led a number of future stars.
Everyone remembers his time with the Undertaker back in the early 90's and beyond as well as his presence alongside Kane. While these two men were destined to be stars, I don't know how easily that would have come if the Paul Bearer personality wasn't there. His time with them has been well-documented but even before he stepped foot into WWE, he managed a good number of stars.
Not only did he also manage Mankind but he was also the manager of guys like Blackjack Mulligan, Rick Rude, and the Dingo Warrior who would then go onto WWE stardom as the Ultimate Warrior.
I had done a series of art pieces depicting my top five lists in professional wrestling. Even though Moody is gone now - and I hate that it took his passing to make me say this - I am happy to claim that he has been one of my favorite managers in wrestling history. His spookiness as Paul Bearer was magnetizing but I think, more than anything, his love for wrestling will be tough to replicate. We'll miss you.

Undertaker sucks at WW now that William Moody is no longer with him. The Undertaker might as well retire now cause his wrestling matches just isn't the same without William Moody. That and he's doing the stupid 'sticking your tongue out' thing now. Which is just plain dumb.

...Come to think of it. I'm surprised that Gene Simmons from Kiss hasn't sued The Undertaker yet for stealing his signature move...

Anyway, rest in peace William. The Undertaker and WW isn't going to be the same without you.

Rob this literally brought me to tears again. His death hit me hard, he was such a huge part of my childhood as I grew up during his most documented era. His zest, his pure zeal for the business can never be duplicated. He really was an incredible force in wrestling and he will be sorely missed. I did get to meet him, in 2011 through, at the time, NWA Championship Wrestling - Hollywood; and I can't tell you how good it felt to be able to tell him how much he meant to me and to interact with him.

This is just a beautiful piece Rob, I know he would love it.

I really hope that he would, Brandi, and a good man like him deserves pieces like these done in his honor. His portrayal of Paul Bearer was always so haunting but it wasn't until I was older that I knew just how much the man behind the character enjoyed wrestling. He did so much to help a number of wrestlers and he's easily one of the most iconic characters in the business. I can only hope that his work is not forgotten and that he winds up in the Hall of Fame either this year or in the future. Thank you so much for the support.

I know he would, and I agree. I know he won't be forgotten, he touched too many people. And if anyone truly deserves to be in the HOF, it's him. You're welcome Rob :huggle:

I may not have liked the character, but I respect him a lot. Undertaker ad Kane wouldn't be the great people they are today without him. :iconfoxcryplz:

Absolutely, you are right. :( It's terrible that we lose people that we watched so much when we were younger. Moody definitely made people he worked with look better, which is the goal of any manager. Thank you so much for the support!
